Greg, she's absolutely adorable in that video.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Natalie Mendoza

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

I'm more stunned that they can still make music and sing like that in this day and age, not that the woman isn't charming. It's like they snagged her out of a scene from the 40s. Simply wonderful. I want to hear more of her.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Speaking of brunette, retro singers, Maude Maggart (sister of Fiona Apple):

Maude Maggart: A New Generation of Cabaret : NPR Music

I had the pleasure of hearing her perform twice and meeting her after the show a couple years ago.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Yeah, I've found Jane Monheit to be simply stunning sice I first saw her perform on Ramsay Lewis' show with John Pizzarelli.

Another very nice shot of Natalie Mendoza:

It has to be said: The apple doesn't fall from the tree...

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Has Norah Jones been mentioned in the thread? She's not va-va-voom, but very cutie-patootie in the girl next door way. And talented to boot.

Sofie Allsopp (and she has a hot British accent too)

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Sharon Den Adel, lead vocalist for Dutch "symphonic metallers" Within Temptation:

This looks and sounds AMAZING on DVD, and I've got the import Blu-Ray coming (which all reviews say plays just fine on a PS3):

This is the only concert film I have seen in the last ten years that makes me whine about how I should have been there...

Okay, okay, so I have a thing for lead vocalists in Dutch "symphonic metal" bands (as evidenced in the Redhead Thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...4-post352.html )

Music question - is this band simmiliar to Nightwish, or Tristania? If so, I might have to check them out.

Thanks,

VERY similar to Nightwish, but I like WT better. Sharon doesn't give off any "diva" vibe like Tarja did in Nightwish. WT are a bit heavier, too. I HIGHLY recommend the "Black Symphony" CD/DVD. The US release only has half the concert on the CD, but the DVD half has the whole show, and, OH, what a show it is...I can't WAIT for the import Blu-Ray.

Check out that link in my last post, it's one of my all-time favorite songs (I have some lyrics in my sig).

Put it this way, I listened to Nightwish's "End of an Era" CDs CONSTANTLY over the last six months. Now I listen to "Black Symphony" over and over...

Maybe we should move this to the music thread, because something tells me that you don't know about Epica, Sirenia, and After Forever, either.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Moved to music area.

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

If anybody's been paying attention, we've moved all the Sharon den Adel praise over to the music thread. But, lest anyone think I was putting Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) down, nothing could be further from the truth. Not only does she have the voice of an angel-warrior, but for the uninitiated, she looks like this:

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

A new addition to this thread (I think) is Scarlett Johansson.

While I prefer her as a blond...you can't get much better for a brunette!

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

I'm glad I stopped in here, I'm going buy up a couple of those Epica CD's, outstanding music, I love it.

We're "waxing poetic" on several of these symphonic metal bands over in the music forum. Swing on by so we don't hijack this thread.

Brunette OR blonde, I love Scarlett's lips most of all...

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

The more I see of Stana Katic, the more I like. She was the only bright spot in awful "The Spirit" film. She'll be appearing on "Castle", a new ABC show, in March, co-starring with Nathan Fillion.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Here's someone I first noticed in The 40 Year-Old Virgin and again in Nick and Nora's Infinant Playlist, the painfully sexy Kat Dennings...

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Hmmm. She does nothing for me at all.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

I thought I was the only one who didn't feel it either. Are we missing something or is she missing teeth??? I've seen better at The Mall Of America.

no doubt!

I always think Kat looks better in films than in most of her pictures though. She's absolutely gorgeous in Nick & Norah

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Vanessa Ferlito has nostils that scare me.

Kat Dennings is telegenic, not photogenic. Plus she does have some gaps between her teeth, but some people don't mind it.

I thought as much, so I went and watched some clips of her on YT. Still not my cup of tea, however.

Re: Tribute to Brunettes

Kat Dennings: She looks awesome in the 4th and last picture. KILLER lips, too!
