I've recently built my HTPC and am now trying to configure my remote to control the on/off state. I was hoping someone has already done this and can advise on BIOS , Vista, etc. settings.

What I want to do:
Use my remote to turn off/on all my devices - TV, Receiver and put the HTPC in/out of sleep mode. I have Girder which accepts IR commands via a usb-uirt IR transceiver. I already have it configured to turn the TV and receiver on and off, I just haven't figured out how to integrate it with the PC Motherboard/BIOS and Vista.

What I attempted:
My BIOS Power Menu options:
Suspend Mode: [Auto] - default
Repost Video on S3 Resume: [No] - Not sure if I need to set this to Yes, left it No
ACPI 2.0 Support: [No] - Not sure if I need to set this to Yes, left it No
ACPI APIC Support: [Enabled] - default
Power on by PCI/PCI-Ex Devices: [Enabled] - changed this to enabled

Vista - Set to enter sleep mode after 1 hour

Before changing the power settings, the PC never went into sleep mode. I would just turn off the receiver and TV and the PC continued running. This provided the quick on/off as when I turned the TV and receiver on, the PC was on and already running Media Center. However, this seems like a waste of power/heat if I can get the PC to enter into sleep when I turn the other components off and come back out of sleep mode when I turn them on.

Anyway when I changed the Power on by PCI/PCI-Ex Devices to enabled, the PC went into sleep mode after an hour when I had the other components off. Question: I'm not sure why this may have caused this since the media center continues to run and output to the video card even with the TV off. Perhaaps it just senses no keyboard and mouse input? Anyway, once in sleep pressing the remote and sending an IR command does nothing. If I press the PC power button, it comes out of sleep mode. However, it was at the user login screen (not media center) and when I tried to run media center, it said the TV tuner was already in use.

Ok, I rambled long enough. Has anyone successfully configured their remote with their motherboard, Vista and any usb based device to accomplish what I've described?

Any help would certainly be appreciated.
