BD30 HDMI resolution, speaker setup choices

I have a Panasonic TH-50PX75U plasma with 1366 x 768 Resolution, and the Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player. If I choose "Auto" on the HDMI resolution setting on the BD30, how do I know what resolution the player has selected? Because my plasma is 1366 x 768, I never know whether to choose 720p or 1080i. For my cable box, I use 1080i. What do you think I should choose for HDMI resolution? 720p or 1080i?

Also - on the BD30 under speaker setup, the manual says that your speaker settings (large, small) are "not effective" when using bitstream, which I am. Does this mean that these speaker settings don't matter? I'm going HDMI to my Onkyo 805. Thanks for your patience and help - I'm a BD newbie!

1. Don't worry about the speaker settings if you are bitstreaming via HDMI.
2. I would manually choose 720p and view a movie. Then go in and change it to 1080i and view the same movie. Use your own eyes to see what (if any) difference there is and pick the best.

Agree on both. Many find that setting the player to 1080i and letting the superior scaling in the TV take care of the conversion to 720p is best.
