Sanjay, almost every blu-ray player has been sold at a massive loss. As you stated, 6,000,000 PS3's sold at a loss compared to 500,000 HD DVD''s sold at a loss. Do the math. Billions lost by Sony on the PS3 Blu-ray player. Desperation on Sony's part, I assume.

The ironic thought occurs to me that this may help Blu-ray's cause as well; the vast majority of people - myself included - haven't got into HD media at all, some of said majority may have bought a cheap HD DVD player in this sale, and they could possibly now decide to go format neutral by buying into Blu-ray so that they can watch Blu-ray-exclusive stuff as well.
Only problem with your line of reasoning is that if someone new to HDM bought the $98 Tosh A2 for its cheap price, in order to go neutral, they would now have to poney up $400+ for a BD player...not very likely.

As for speculation that the studio is waiting for Q4 sales results before making an announcement of format exclusivity -- perhaps even as soon as this January's CES in Las Vegas -- Noonan shot down any such short-term scenarios.

I missed out on the Walmart sale, but plan to be there early for the Black Friday Sale that Best Buy is having on the A3. $199 with 7 free discs.

Sears looks like it will also have a good deal on the A3. Not sure if it includes 300 and Bourne but it is still eligible for the 5 free discs offer through Toshiba.

All of the 3rd gens include Bourne and 300.

So yep, Sears deal includes those.
