Until the other side gives up, this format war isn't quite over.

Re: Where's The Digital Bits?

I think the Bits presented the facts in the format war, and while it did choose a side, it did so with an informed, educated opinion and with regard to what was best for the industry and the consumer. This isn't a matter of choosing a favorite ball team. I respect the Bits (and Bill) for the coverage it has provided and for always presenting the reasons behind its decisions.

Re: Where's The Digital Bits?

I was one of those who didn't like the way Bill Hunt was going, and simply stopped reading his site. End of story.

I do feel this thread doesn't have much to offer anymore, though - just the same pro- and anti- points over and over.

And after Bill picked a side, he posted every bit of HD news as if it was a pathetic desperation move, and every bit of BR news as if it was yet another nail in the coffin for HD. It made me sad to see such biased "reporting".

You might wish to re-read my post sir. I did not call anyone a "pimp," I said what that site is doing is essentially pimping a product so the word is used as a verb.

That is very true. It was like "Look at the pathetic HD camp and what they're doing. Buncha losers."

It is Bill Hunt's site, it is Bill Hunt's column, it is Bill Hunt's opinion. If some of you don't like what he says, either don't read it or start your own site and post your own opinion. Attacking Bill Hunt serves no purpose.

Yes John, we ALL know it is his site and he can say what he wants. That much is obvious. However since Hunt has decided to take such a public and biased position (thereby choosing to remove himself from reporting it from any serious journalistic standards) he has opened himself up to very deserved criticism.

Man, I'm so glad that this thread got resurrected. Lots of fresh points of view and new ideas being brought up.

Yup, we have discussed Bill Hunt enough in regard to the format war and rehashing that argument is not going to resolve anything.
