Does anyone know if restoration work has been done for "A Free Soul"? The version I recorded off TCM last year was less than steller. It looked and sounded very dupey. I was hoping they did some significant work on it for this set. Anyone know?

Indeed it does. Really looking forward to this set; Warner look like they've listened to the consumer and given us what we want (in spades). BTW, this is available at a very attractive price with 40% off at B&N right now (moreso if you have one of those very attractive discount coupon codes and you are a member).

I'm getting more excited about this set by the hour. I can't wait to watch the included documentary.

Too bad that WB sucks so bad!!

Are we still going to get Vol 3 this year? If so, my choices are:

-Illicit
-Ex-Lady
-Strange Love of Molly Louvain
-The Purchase Price
-Dance, Fools, Dance
-Havana Widows

I hope we get Vol 3 by the end of the year like they said.

Me too! Though, I have to put in a vote for at least one Norma Shearer film to be included...either Strangers May Kiss (1931) or Riptide (1934)

Add Midnight Mary (33) to the set and that will make it perfect!

Re: More Pre-Codes From Warners On March 4, 2008

Since WHV claims there won't be a dedicated Shearer set, they should include as many of her films in these Pre-code sets as possible. On a personal note, I would like to see Madame Satan appear in the next set. I saw it a few months ago in Los Angeles and loved it. I agree with Russell that WHV really dropped the ball on the first set. The films themselves were fine, but there should've been more of them and the set should've had some features!? It felt really rushed and slapped together. One of the very few times WHV has disappointed me.

Re: More Pre-Codes From Warners On March 4, 2008

With all of the pre-codes that WB has access to, they could afford to do at least two sets a year. It seems like they released the Noir sets quickly and I think they could do the same with these if they wanted to. Maybe these take longer because the film material is so much older and needs work.

We also got 2 Gangsters sets this year, too.
