Thanks for the reply!  Sounds decent so far.

My order was missing, Cheyenne S-2 Vol 1, so I had to call WBshop customer service and request it to be sent out, which was done quickly and without question. I hope I receive it soon.

I did receive Vol 2 and Fort Dobbs. I had most of Cheyenne S-2 on second generation VHS copies from cable broadcasts or collector 16mm. My old off air VHS slp Fort Dobbs, I have had since 1985.

So these DVD-Rs are a major upgrade for me. The picture is excellent, sharpe, and clear.

All the episodes on Vol 2 are preceded by a silent Warner Brothers Presents logo. The runtimes are in the 48 minutes:44 secpnds to 49 minutes: 27 seconds range. The 49 minutes plus episodes have short pre-credit sequences that starts the action of the stories.

These are uncut as to story content. As an example "Hard Bargain" has a runtime of 48mins:48secs. My old tape of "Hard Bargain" has a 40 seconds "teaser" sequence, (showing a scene that appears later in the show), at the start of the episode, and about 40 seconds of commercial bumpers at the ends and beginnings of the commercial breaks. Those extra 80 seconds added to 48:48 would give you a 50:08 episode. (Another old Cheyenne tape has an almost 2 minute scenes for next week segment that would raise the show to 52 minutes leaving 8 minutes for commercials and station I.D.)

I have said previously, that I like the WB TV show episodes that reuse plots and action sequences from other WB movies. The big one in Cheyenne S2 Vol 2 is "Test of Courage". This episode is a remake of a Gary Cooper western called, "Springfield Rifle". Clint Walker as Cheyene is dressed to match Cooper. If you look close you can see, in the stock scenes, Cooper from the back, Alan Hale Jr., and Lon Chaney Jr. or his stunt double.

"The Brand", guest-starring "Kookie", from 77 Sunset Strip, uses the ending from a James Cagney/ Dead End Kids movie. Eons ago, when I first saw this episode, it was very disturbing to see "Kookie" playing a bad guy.

It will be interesting to see how soon WB Archive will continue with more Cheyenne, and equally interesting to see what other classic WB show is next.

I received the two Cheyenne sets and Fort Dobbs today.  This is a TV forum, but Fort Dobbs looks very nice and a step up from the Cheyenne episodes in sharpness.  I was a film collector during the 1970s-1990s and probably had about forty Cheyenne episodes in 16mm over that time.  It is sad from a nostalgia standpoint that these episodes don't have the teaser scene, commercial bumpers, or the aerial view of WB with the voice-over, "A Warner Brothers television production."  The episodes themselves look pretty good.  They certainly don't have the startling 35mm look of, say, Have Gun Will Travel, but are clean with a decent gray scale and sharpness.  Hopefully, more Cheyenne seasons and other WB shows will be coming.

The quasi-remakes are fascinating:  1 Cagney (ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES), 1 George Raft/Paul Muni (THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT/BORDERTOWN in "The Storm Riders"), 2 Guy Madisons (THE CHARGE AT FEATHER RIVER/THE COMMAND), 2 Errol Flynns (ROCKY MOUNTAIN, MARU MARU),1 Gary Cooper (SPRINGFIELD RIFLE) and 1 Bogart (THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE).

S-1's "Fury at Rio Hondo" was a re-make of Bogart and Bacall's "To Have and to Have Not".

I read an interview with Dick Jones, who played the young man with the dog in "Rocky Mountain". After filming was completed, Jones kept the dog. He said when Cheyenne's "Mountain Fortress" was filmed Warner's hired his dog to match the stock shots from "Rocky Mountain". They even picked the dog up in a limo everyday.

"Deadline" on Season 2 is a remake of James Cagney's COME FILL THE CUP (1951).....and why isn't that out on dvd?  It's never been on Homevideo?

Wow Great News! Thanks, I wasn't expecting it this soon. I was thinking sometime in January. This has become my favorite western series and Warners prints are great. Keep them coming Warner.

That would be a good price but I was unable to order it. It went missing.

I think it is probably listed right now in error. It has the same number of episodes as season 2, which was split into two volumes of 3 disks a piece. My guess is that they are updating it to be "Cheyenne Season 3, volume 1" for $19.99. That would be in-line with season 2 pricing. Too bad, i would have jumped at $20 for the entire season.

They sometimes list a default 19.99 price for multi-disc sets but correct them soon after. Looks like they already corrected this. Cheyenne Season 2 was later changed to a complete set with a price of $49.99 and always discounted at $44.98 sometimes less. This happened after they started using dual -layered DVD-r's This is when I bought Season 2 it was a much better deal than the two seperate releases. I got it on sale for $39.99. My guess is list price is either $44.99 or $39.99 for the complete season 3 with 20 episodes. Their TV sets have been graudually getting lower.

Season 3 of Cheyenne is up now for $49.95. It states $44.95 is the initial listing, but $49.95 when you put it in the cart. ???

John, if you login and are in the Insider Rewards program it's $44.95. I ordered it with "The Last Hunt" to put me into the free postage over $50 order offer.

code: WBAFF5 will take off $5.00 on $50 orders.

By the way the WBSHOP has many regular "real DVD" release TV on DVD shows on sale at very low prices this month.
