the false wall

Thread Starter
hi! its me again. i finally signed a contract to have my home theater built and equipment installed

my question is im looking to make it a clean room with all my speakers hidden.
my loudspeakers and center channel speaker i want hidden behind some fabric so i have to build a false wall. this wall will also support the fixed 120" screen.

how should this wall be built to accomodate this, and how far out from the wall should this be placed ?

i have heard that approx 2 feet should be left from the speaker to the wall. is this really necessary to get the ideal sound?

also, does anyone have any recommendations where to buy the correct fabric to cover the wall?

thanks

I have mine approximately two feet from the wall, I am not sure if there is a standard depth that it should be though. I made mine to accommodate the depth of my speaker.

As far as fabric, you can do a search for GOM or Guilford of Maine and that seems to be a popular choice.
