I'm going with CRAPTASTIC!

Taken from IMDB.com

Quote:
The miniseries is a sometimes psychedelic, often twisted and always bizarre take on The Wizard of Oz. It centers on DG, a young woman plucked from her humdrum life and thrust into The Outer Zone (the O.Z.), a fantastical realm filled with wonder, but oppressed by dark magic. DG discovers her true identity, battles evil winged monkey-bats and attempts to fulfill her destiny. Her perilous journey begins on the fabled Old Road that leads to a wizard known as the Mystic Man. Along the way, she is joined by "Glitch," an odd man missing half his brain; "Raw," a quietly powerful wolverine-like creature longing for inner courage; and "Cain," a heroic former policeman (known in the O.Z. as a "Tin Man"), who is seeking vengeance for his scarred heart. Ultimately, DG's destiny leads her to a showdown with the wicked sorceress Azkadellia, whose ties to DG are closer than anyone could have imagined.

Whats the total schedule for this. Looking at Sci-Fi.com, it seems 2 hours Sunday night and 2 hours Monday night, and that is it.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

Tom Shales of the Washington Post has his take on "Tin Man".

Quote:
Perhaps on some goofily unapproachable level, "Tin Man" makes all the sense in the world, but who wants to go through the agony of trying to figure it out? If it were a swift, slick two-hour movie, it might be worth it, but this hopeless opus from the Sci Fi Channel runs six hours over three consecutive nights, starting tomorrow.

Really, that's just rude.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

Hmmm, 6 hours, 2 each night over 3 nights. As best as I can tell from the Schedule at Sci-Fi, it's just 2 hours Sun & 2 hours Mon.

Can we get a definitive answer here?

I remember when a "mini-series" would be either 1 or 2 hours, that ran over many nights or weeks, like every Friday for 4 to 6 weeks or something.

I'm seeing three parts listed at the Sci Fi website - Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with all three parts airing back to back on 12/9.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

I just set it up to record, and it was showing up Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on my Dish Network guide. And to answer the OP's question, I don't think anybody who watches SciFi at all could miss the ads. They've been on in every, single commercial break, plus constantly just above the bug for the last several days. My only complaint is that I don't have SciFi HD, as I would prefer to see this in HD. Maybe NBC will air it sometime this spring when they're out of original programming thanks to the strike.

Yep, now I see it as 3 nights. I could swear the first time I checked their schedule, it was not there for Tuesday.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

I tried to watch it, really I did, but I couldn't sit through 30 minutes of it. Looked like they just redressed the sets and costumes from "Flash Gordon".

I'm recording it and will watch all on Wed night. But I did see a few moments while doing something else with my TV. Didn't look too good. This was a bunch of people outside a small wooden shack, and some floating person came out from the shack.

I DVR'ed it and it sounds like perhaps opening that space back up on the HDD might be in order....

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

I think it's an interesting take so far. The first 30 minutes were real slow and don't get you into the meat of the story right away, but I'd say at least watch the first part before making a decision.

I'm currently watching part 2.

I am going to save all 3 on the DVR before wathing this. Sci-Fi is known for thousands of commercial breaks. Watching this live would be torture.

I'm doing the same thing so I can give it one more chance. Maybe I can get through more than 30 minutes of it. While watching "Chuck" and "Heroes" last night, I would switch to "Tin Man" during the breaks and what little bit I saw seemed interesting. We'll see.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

Yeah, there were a ton of commercials, but I was watching each part late at night so I could fast forward through them.

It wasn't bad. Not brilliant, but not terrible. I'll watch it again over the weekend straight through to see how well it plays.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

It wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen on tv. They borrowed a lot from other movies. Some that come to mind are Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Sky Captain, Terminator and I'm sure a bunch more.

Their use of CG for the most part was crap. One thing I hate to watch is bad cg. I'd rather see monkeys on wires.

The actors for the most part were fine. If anyone bothered me the most, it would be Dreyfuss, and he's the most seasoned actor on there.

I thought it was interesting how they connected the original to this one.

Unfortunately, for some reason my DVR stopped recording with about 5 minutes left so I don't know how it ended. I saw the climax with the witch but not what happened with her "plan." I can guess though.

Re: Sci-Fi Channel's Tin Man miniseries !2/2/07

yeah that was just bad. My husband and I watched it over a period of 4 days. the acting was horrible and the story line was just stupid. They ended it so abrubtly.

JOEL: All you missed was the sun coming back out and DG saying " Now this is the OZ I remember" THE END. IT was bad.
