Yesterday I got a 17" MBP (1920 rez for editing purposes) and I must say I cannot tell much difference lugging it around than the 15" model. A lot of people on different forums say the 17" is too heavy and whatnot but after about a few days use and moving it around, etc, I can say I'm glad I made the decision I did. Its actually interesting... I went from a top of the line HP 17" from costco when it was first released with Vista (returned because of a weird video card issue), then got the 15" MBP about 2 months ago, and returned that recently because of a defective Superdrive. I really loved the extra screen space for editing, so I decided to go back to the 17" model and its pretty good so far. compared to the HP model I had, this MBP is a featherweight. So I guess I'm posting this so that if anyone is trying to decide between a 15 and 17 inch model to go for the 17" if the only factor you cant decide on is the bulk/weight issue.

Re: Going from 15 to 17" MBP
Mike,Thanks for the feedback. When I was shopping for my MBP, it was tough to decide between 15" and 17" with no prior experience. I chose the 15", but it's good to hear the 17" carries well, for anyone trying to decide.

What ever weight tradeoff is a small issue compared to the great screen on the 17. Nice Box!

Re: Going from 15 to 17" MBP
While the weight wasn't an issue, size was. That is why when I purchased my PowerBook I went with the 15. The smaller size was easier for me to manage on the plane and in other space constrained situations.Of course, I generally was not doing video editing or such work when I was on the go. Mostly light duty things like email, web browsing. However, I could certainly see how a designer or video editor would like the extra resolution/size to do work on.
Actually, I am looking at moving to a smaller size soon. I sold my PowerBook and may be moving to a MacBook as soon as new ones are announced (hopefully soon).
