Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Wal-Mart's version of Spider-Man 3 has an exclusive comic book created by the former Ultimate Spider-Man team of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley. It looks like it has a bonus DVD as well, and is $19.96 on their site.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Will probably pick up Looney Tunes V5 after checking on availability/price at Target. On the fence about the live Queen DVD---I have the original release ("We Will Rock You") but I hear the sound it light years better on this version. Does the CD version get released tomorrow also?

Don't think so, Eric.

But there will be Blu-ray and HD-DVD versions released December 4.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Actually, the David Gilmour Blu Ray was delayed again.

From David's Official Blog:
"Before the rumour mill starts winding everyone up, we thought you should know when the Blu-ray version of 'Remember That Night' will - hopefully - be in the shops.

These dates are subject to change, naturally, but we're presently looking at Tuesday 20 November for North America (Sony) and Monday 26 November for Europe (EMI)."

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

A title of interest, I think, to some that was released this week but not mentioned in the roundup was the Iraq war documentary NO END IN SIGHT. No real deals on this title but it is listed as follows:
Amazon $19.99
Circuit City $19.99
Deep Discount DVD $21.92
Best Buy $22.99

Awesome, Scott. Well done.

I'll bet you are right about the interest being out there. Thanks.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick!

Light week for me:
- License to Wed from Redbox
- Spiderman Trilogy on Blu-ray from B&N

Thanks for the heads-up on this Tony.

My total came to only $40.05 with sales tax (Spiderman Trilogy BD $92.95 - Discounts $55.78 + Sales Tax $2.88). The two discounts (10% member discount + 50% coupon / promo discount) were added together ($55.78 / $92.95 = 60%) instead of being applied separately which probably explains the lower price.

Can anyone comment on availability/pricing of Twin Peaks or Looney Tunes at Costco?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Didn't see either one when I visited Costco today.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

I don't believe Costco jumps all over release day like other retailers. It may take a couple extra days to get the stock out.

And THAT'S how we play our little game!

Thanks again to Scott for posting that info...and thanks to Marty for affirming his position that there might be others who'd want to know.

I understand that the RoundUp has evolved to the point where some people use it to check out what each week's new releases are. But, honestly, some weeks there are 500 to 600 new titles released and I have to exercise a fair amount of editorial judgment about what to include (I have often thought about cutting the number of titles back because I figure many are really superfluous). Paring back the number of titles would certainly allow me to reclaim some of my spare time.

So...bottom line. Thanks to anyone who knows about a particular title that's due to come out and doesn't find it in the RoundUp and who then looks up a couple of prices and posts it here to share with anyone!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

the walnmmart lenticular sleeve is actually very good.
it is the standard image from all the other releases but it is a smooth changing image.
each spider-man costume smoothly changes from one to the other.

nice job on this.

it is a small version of the theatrical poster appearing in the theater during the run.
if you saw it, it was the spider-man chest and a full size poster lenticular
moving image that changed from red to black costume.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Local BB had only one copy of the Three Stooges Collection, but a ton of PD releases of Disorder in the Court etc to try to fool customers with. Also only one copy of Looney Tunes Golden Collection vol. 5, though about 40 copies of the Spotlight Collection.

Now they have none.

All out of My So-Called Life though---I'll have to check back Friday or Saturday to see if they got any more in.

I went to Amazon to get the Three Stooges set and it's coming up at $19.99.

That price hike happened on release day. If you check out the Three Stooges thread, one poster was keeping track of the sales ranking of the Stooges release at amazon (it reached #27 by Tuesday!). Then, when it became clear that there were going to be stocking issues at B&Ms, a number of people (including myself) decided to consider placing amazon orders...only to find out about the $3 jump.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-30-2007

Maybe Amazon found out about the B&M stock issues too. . .
