24: Season Seven

The commercial for Season Seven goes up tomorrow at 12 noon EST (so that means that it's probably already leaked out early ).

http://www.24trailer.com

EDIT: The countdown clock is at zero but the site lists the commercial as coming up at 1 PM. Apparently Fox has a hard time counting.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

24 - Season Six
24: Season One
24: Season Seven [Blu-ray]

They've sucked me back in for another 24 hours.

Re: 24: Season Seven

After season 6, I seriously considering dumping this show. Never thought that would happen, because the first 5 seasons were great!

Re: 24: Season Seven

In today's Washington Post in the Reliable Source column at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...102402842.html
there was some information about the new season.

I just saw it too. It looks pretty cool although I'm definitely worried about

(I'll use spoilers since the commercial just went up)
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Tony apparently being the bad guy. Despite that, the good thing about it is that they'll have a villain that the audience knows and has an interest in and that's something that has periodically been a problem with the villains on the show.

Not bad, though I can't help but think of
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Die Hard 2 when I saw the plane, and Live Free or Die Hard with an organization whose intent is to breach or shut down the United States' computer infrastructure.

"...torture him, if you have to." How poignant

Re: 24: Season Seven

Definitely looks pretty good. Didn't really look like 24 though, but the change of scenary was probably needed. I'll miss CTU and their bunker like headquarters. And of course, how does Chloe fit into this? Will she be back?

Nice seeing Kurtwood Smith.

So how many more bad guys from Robocop have yet to appear in 24?

Chloe and Buchanan (!) were both in the commercial for about a second.

Re: 24: Season Seven

Even though I was extemely disappointed with season 6 like everyone else, there's no way I won't watch the new season. I think the writers, producers, director and Keifer all know S6 pretty much sucked and I think they'll make the necessary adjustments to get this show back on track. I like that CTU is gone and that they're shaking up the format by getting out of L.A. This trailer really has me excited and I can't wait for the new season to start.

Re: 24: Season Seven

Maybe it isn't Tony but actually his "Evil Twin" (tm) kind of like when Michael Knight came face to face with his.

Re: 24: Season Seven

Just when I thought I was going to break free, they keep sucking me back. Damn you "24"! Of course I'll be watching. Once again, "Heroes" v "24". Thank goodness for DVRs.

I think the "apology" by Keifer in front of the trailer unofficially confirms it. I had read that the writers had contemplated revealing Tony's return at the end of last season as a tease to salvage what they could, but in the end decided not to and just scuttle S6 and save the reveal to start fresh. Well, they've got me refreshed for another 24 hours!

Re: 24: Season Seven

I'm glad they didn't try to use Tony to salvage season 6 as it wasn't worth saving in the first place. I think they definitely made the right choice and I'm totally excited for a fresh start with S7.

Great trailer, very exciting. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I'll be interested in seeing how they explain Tony going bad.

Yeah, but

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Is Tony *really* Evil Tony? Or has he gone deep undercover, with Buchanan the only other one in the know? That would be my guess, anyway.

That is the other option, and I did think about it, but I think it would feel too much like a retread of Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Gael's storyline from season 3.

I'd bet that Lost will soon follow suit.

Nope but the studios have a huge pie that they refuse to share with the people who actually make the content that generates money for their company.

Anyway, there's a thread for the writer's strike.

Re: 24: Season Seven

Just read elsewhere that if this ****ing strike doesn't end soon Fox may very well push season 7 back to January of 2008 and the 8th season of the show could be in jeopardy altogether.

Re: 24: Season Seven

If(and it's a big if) the writer's strike gets resolved soon as is widely being reported, is it still early enough in to go on with season 7 as scheduled? I wonder what the cutoff date is for scrapping the season altogether.

Yeah, 24 is in such a weird position since they can't have a shortened season like every other show will end up doing. By the Christmas break, they usually have finished shooting episode 12 or 14 (depending on the year) so IF the strike is resolved and they get back to work at the beginning in January, they are behind by six episodes which is about a month and a half of shooting.

So IF the strike gets resolved by Christmas as rumored, my guess is that they'll start running the episodes on February 4 with two episodes on one night and one a week until a two episode finale and finish on June 30. Although I have the feeling that's a very optimistic guess.
