Playstation 3 motorstorm 80g

Hi, I was thinking of buying the playstation 3 motorstorm.
You get the game + 5 movies by mail for 499.00.
I noticed at Best Buy today that the majority of Blu Ray players were 499.00.
Does something make them better than the playstation? You seem to get so much more for the same price when buying the playstation. I know some of them have 24p mode now, but in the long run, is the picture quality and the player quality the same?

also, and I dont know if this will make a difference on the answers, but I will be using a
JVC DLA RS1 1080P Projector
Denon 2807 receiver
Klipsch RF82s for fronts
Klipsch RC62 for center
Klipsch RS52 for surround
Klipsch RW 12d for sub
110 in carada bright white screen,
Thanks

Good HT set up! Definately get the PS3 because it is an awsome BluRay player as well as an excellent upscaling DVD player and an awsome gaming system.

Thats exactly how I was looking at it. I already have the xbox with the HD DVD add on and I figure, if one format loses out this way, well, I still have a game console.

Although, after doing some reading, I think I will look at the 60 GB version since it is backwards compatible with all the old PS games through hardware and not software emulation.

The PS3 outputs 1080p 24fps also. The PS3 is really a great buy and with the new price drops, it now is an absolute no brainer.

The PS3 is the best Blu-Ray player on the market.

You're all set for lossless audio too. The PS3 will decode the audio and output it to your Denon 2807 receiver via HDMI.

Re: Playstation 3 motorstorm 80g

The only benefits I can see that other BD decks have over the PS3 is that they have IR remotes (compatible with universal remotes without having to buy anything extra) and that the PS3 doesn't have multichannel analog audio outputs.

The PS3 also has the big advantage of being easily upgradeable, what with the full BD specs not being implemented yet.

Am I missing anything?

Re: Playstation 3 motorstorm 80g

Well, found a PS 3, 60 GB at Best Buy today which came with an additional free remote for 499.00. I purchased it instead of the 80gb due to the backwards compatibility issues.
I cant wait to get this theatre done so I can see some high def on something other than my 24 inch computer monitor.
Thanks for the input everyone
It was much appreciated
