I'm wondering what frequency to tune my sub to for listening to music in my house. It will mainly be rooms about 15x20. I listen to a lot of music with low notes. Rap, hip hot, techno, trance. That kind of thing.

Here is the equipment i have it may be useful for you to know.

Dayton TIT400C-4 15" Titanic Mk III Subwoofer
Dayton HPSA500 500W Subwoofer Amplifier

If you have any box recommendations let me know. For the most part i know how to design a sub box but i have only ever done it for a car. In a car your peak frequency was about 10hz higher than what you tuned it to. I'm not sure if in a home there is similar things to consider. In my car i was going to spl so i tuned to 35hz. I am reading stuff about home theater and it looks like i should be aiming quite a bit lower. correct?

So if nothing else, please just let me know what tuning frequency i should be aiming for.

One more question, what size mdf should i build the box from. This sub needs to be transported a lot. I was thinking 5/8" but normally i would use 3/4" you think 5/8" will do?

Thanks
