Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

Joining in on the fun, this is similar to several other of the deals this weekend, but if you have Amazon Prime and for those still with the 10% off, it a much better deal than several of the B&M sales this week.

I don't know about the rest of you, but between the BluRay sales and Warner HDDVD 25% off I've gotten killed this week after beign good since summer vacation.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

It looks like nearly every retailer is doing that sale this week. It's a good time to do some buying.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

These sales are starting to kill my pocketbook. So many deals and it's not even the "shopping season" yet.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I would think the widespread nature of all these Blu-ray sales--which seemed to come out of nowhere this week--have to be a foreboding of good news for HD media prices.

In one form or another, I've seen (or heard about) big HD media sales at Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon, and FYE (TransWorld).

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I take it for this Amazon deal it is based ONLY on those select
titles? I was looking to purchase Meet The Robinsons

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I would think so, Ron. It seems like many of the B&Ms (plus, Amazon) are doing the BOGO deal on the same selection of Disney HD titles.

My strategy for Meet the Robinsons will be to go to Best Buy and do a pre-order on Ratatouille (or PotC III) and get a $5 savings on Meet the Robinsons.

BB has the $5 off deal on ANY Disney DVD with the pre-order of those two titles.

EDIT** BTW, HERE are the titles listed on the amazon sale.

And you might get that preorder for free again like we did when Jungle Book came out.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I actually found ten titles in the list of 39 that I didn't have (or at least liked enough in the SD version I own to upgrade to better picture and far better sound). Like already mentioned, the combination of Amazon Prime and the 10% off for the HD "old timers" make this good deal an excellent deal.

10 Blu-ray titles delivered 2nd day to my door for a total cost of $98.25. At under $10 a title, that's pretty amazing at this point.

My 2 cents (½ off, -10% + 2 day free shipping)

Let's hope so!

BTW, I was in CC last night, and their b1g1 BD sale is *almost* the same as Amazon's, but not exactly. I think all 39 discs from Amazon are included, but so are a few others (I recall Click was one, and I think there were a couple more).

However, at CC they're $25 and $30 plus tax, while at Amazon they're $20 and $24.45 (!) with no tax.

While I'm certainly not counting on it (the powers-that-be @ BB must have figured out their little problem by now...), it certainly would be better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Robert: Sounds like you made out like a bandit.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

You know what? Some of you are not going to enjoy reading
this, but I just can't bring myself to purchasing anything through
this Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion.

It's the reason why I opted to abstain from getting into Blu-Ray
in the first place....their initial titles absolutely stink!

What this sale highlights is most of their original releases.
Most of the best BR titles I got free with my player. What is
left in this sale is a mish-mosh of 2nd rate films. I found one
that I liked, but couldn't even bring myself to selecting a "free"
second title even for the sake of costing me nothing.

Fortunately, the BR studios are really starting to put stuff out
that people want to see. Too bad, based on my tastes, none of
that is represented here.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I have to agree Ron. I found one i would buy. But I already have that one on DVD. I wont buy a bare bones HD title when i have a fine SE already. But the big thing is i couldnt find another title i would want, even if you gave it to me.

I would snap up a few FOX titles if they ever had a sale.

In the almost 4 months i have had a BD player i finally cracked 10 titles, with 4 more on my upcoming wish list.

Re: Amazon B1G1 Free BluRay

I also see where you're coming from, Ron. When HD DVD players came within my target zone, I started seriously considering HD, and comparing what each format had to offer exclusively. I found that I was interested by far more titles from the HD DVD camp.

I plan on picking up a PS3 in a few weeks and going format neutral, but don't see my BD library growing as quickly as my HD DVD one has, because I don't find the BD library as exciting.

Having said that, I am thrilled to now see Fox titles I actually want, like The Fly, and the Pixar movies and Close Encounters are no-brainers. I hope this trend continues.
