The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Ordered the BD version of 28 Weeks Later along with Bram Stoker's Dracula. That's pretty much it for this week......I'll wait awhile for the local Walmart to sell Family Ties: Season 2 cheap before I pick that up.

Edit - Didn't realize that Michael Palin's "Pole To Pole" was out this week......gonna have to look around for a good price on that one. Love those globetrotting travel shows of his.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks Mike.

Sorry to tell you, but you are suffering from "Hottie Confusion". That is Rose Byrne, in the 28 Weeks Later still, not Catherine McCormack. I know my hotties.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Man... I've seen the commercial for the new Transformers DVD a few times this evening so I assumed it was out this week. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the release date... whoops. One more week...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks, Mike and Patrick.

Just one thing for me this week - TZ: The Movie, which I've wanted to see for a while. And it's my first HD DVD purchase, as I just ordered a player from Amazon today.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks for the Roundup!

Expensive week... Stargate SG-1 boxset, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Surf's Up (highly recommended), and maybe Poltergeist (that BB price is very tempting).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

At Walmart.com, there is an exclusive for Reign Over Me featuring a CD of some sort. Does anyone have any more information about it?

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Poltergeist and twilight zone the movie have been shipped to me on friday !! Bad news is itll be a 2 week wait till I get them, here in Greece.Eventually ill buy family ties season 2 , thats when the series became good.Hey , that would make a great triple feature twilight zone , poltergeist, and the keatons!!!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks guys!

TZ the Movie for me and possibly a double-dip on Poltergeist...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

$39.98 for Robocop? Thanks, Circuit City. Guess I'll wait until I have another $5 coupon in a couple weeks. I have $15 I was going to use toward it, but at that price, I'm still no better than Amazon, considering I wouldn't pay sales tax on it. When's Fox/MGM going to get the message about those MSRPs being too high? Methinks a commercial in the vein of Used Cars is in order.

Does CC price match with Best Buy?

Yeah, I said I would not get it but for only $10 it's tempting. I probably would have went for it, but supposedly it is going to be released in HD at some point so I'll just wait for that.

Also, does anyone know why "The Fly" BD seems to be not listed at Amazon?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

I was going to get Alfred Hitchcock season 3 at BB. I assume they are not going to carry it in store? Guess i will order it from Amazon.
The 23rd, thats gonna be the expensive week!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks as always Mike and Patrick.

I'll be picking-up Poltergeist (can't pass on it at the $10 price), Surf's Up, and Twilight Zone: The Movie.

I'll rent 28 Weeks Later and Reign Over Me from RedBox (since I cancelled my Blockbuster.com membership after they hiked their rates ).

I'm on the fence on Evan Almighty - it'll be a buy or rent.

For anyone who is going to get Surf's Up this week at a B&M, be sure to grab a Sunday paper that contains the Parade Magazine insert - there's a page of DVD coupons inside, and one of them is for $3 off of Surf's Up DVD. The other coupons are:
  • $2 off of Open Season DVD
  • $2 off of Monster House DVD
  • $2 off of any Holly Hobbie DVD
  • $2 off of The Last Day of Summer or Shredderman Rules DVD
Here's a scan of the entire ad:

Just Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Whose Line Anyway.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

Thanks guys. Surf's Up and Twilight Zone are on the Netflix queue. Otherwise, saving the pennies for next week.

Absolutely, and gladly. (I used to work there)

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

I'll be picking up:

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season Three
Poltergeist
Twilight Zone The Movie

Thanks for the prices!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-9-2007

28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, and Surf's Up on Blu-ray; The Twilight Zone on HD-DVD. I'm tempted by Creature Comforts on DVD, but the two or three episodes that CBS showed during the summer in HD make it tough to step back. And I'll probably get Alfred Hitchcock Presents during the DD sale.

And I'll probably need the new Samsung firmware for my BD player with those Fox titles. Annoying.

Thanks, John. Please continue to keep me in line when I start to show further confusion.

Thanks, guys. Already swung by Target and picked up "Dexter" S1 for $19.99 -- great price on that! The lowest I found on DVD Price Search was $27.89 with shipping.

Thanks again,

Just looking over the deals again...

Is the Roots bonus disc exclusive to the Next Generations set, or is it also included with the complete collection?
