Any word on Moulin Rouge

If there ever was a title that would benefit more from HD this would be the one. Has there been any word, or rumor of it coming anytime soon?

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

I agree, Ron!

Actually, exactly a year ago I talked with Fox about
Moulin Rouge coming to Blu-Ray.

I was told that it was not on their immediate slate due
to the fact that it would require Baz Luhrmann's
involvement.

I should be talking with someone at the studio within
the next 30 days and I'll see if I can get an update.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Thanks for the update Ron, that's a shame it's not on their current list. Hopefully we might see it next year, but please do keep us posted.

I just watched the SD last night and all I could think of was how amazing this would look and sound on Blu.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Baz has Australia being worked on now. Any chance that they try and get MR out on HD when they bring that out (late 2008 maybe...I'm not sure of the schedule). I know Ron likes MR more than me (probably more than anybody!), but I do love me some Moulin Rouge. HD will really help the film at home

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

I've been holding off on watching the SD DVD in hopes of a high def release. I really would love to see this on one of the new formats.

Same here.

My daughter of 30 years keeps suggesting when the family is over, that we play "Moulin Rouge" in the theater room and I keep telling her I only play HD titles in there now. (Don't like downconversion)

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

I'm strictly HD DVD at this point. But if this comes out, it will be my first purchase when I go dual-format.

"come, what, may...."

count me in!

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

My daughter loves it (as the rest of us) and one day at a CC store we were watching a Blu-ray demo and it showed a few seconds of it. As we noticed it right away and she told me you have to buy it. Of course I went looking all over to see if I could find a release date and see nothing about it. I wonder what that was alll about.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

This title with a pristine, high bit rate AVC or VC-1 transfer + lossless audio would be amazing.

Fox could charge $50 and I'd buy it (not that I encourage that pricing scheme)!

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

no news yet ???

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

I talked to Fox earlier this week.

Moulin Rouge is not currently in development for Blu-ray.

As I posted earlier, Baz Luhrmann needs to be directly involved
with the title, and currently he is working on a huge movie project.

I'm afraid we will have to continue waiting for this title to surface.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Well, we're waiting for tons of titles from Fox. Tons of great films. Reminds me of the salad days of 1998 and 1999 on DVD

But MR will be an absolute knockout on BRD - the sound, the image! Among Fox titles, I only want Aliens more than this on high def.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

So Baz has pretty much wrapped up Australia, what are the chances that he'll be headed back to Moulin Rouge? Any news on an update yet?

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Plus I wonder what it is that he's supposed to do. I guess supervise a new transfer, color correct it, or something? But they don't need him for that, they have the dvd as reference, assuming he liked the colors etc on that edition.

Definite buy if it comes out.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Wow. It seems so obvious. This would be a title (as Ron pointed out nearly a year ago) that would be a slam dunk on HD.

Let's get going, Fox!

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

It was sold in HD on D-Theater. Looks good.

+1

Now that my new receiver allows me to enjoy the HD-audio tracks, I'd love to hear Moulin Rouge in lossless!

Come on, Fox, stop giving us random, low-demand titles [Hitman? AvP2? Meet Dave? I'll take Three Movies Almost No One Saw In The Theaters for $400, Alex] and give us something we really want!

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

If they do release Moulin Rouge on Blu-ray, I hope they fix the lipsync errors that they insist weren't present on the DVD edition.

One would hope. Anyway, after seeing Phantom of the Opera in HD, this has become one of my most desired titles.

Re: Any word on Moulin Rouge

Hell, this film should come bundled with players upon it's release lol!

It's been awhile since i've watched the film but i'll never forget the sheer feeling of intoxication I felt the first time I saw it years ago, quite simply the film knocked me on my ass and i'm there day and date when it goes Blu.

+2. Well said. I missed it in theaters and remember seeing it on dvd with it's wonderful dts track during the Holidays with my family. We were captivated from start to finish. Unreal.

This REALLY needs a Blu-ray release.

Loaned my DVD to a friend a couple years ago, he seems like he has NO interest in returning it, can't blame him.

I thought, to heck with it, I'll just order the BR, certainly there MUST be one!

Dohhhh!

I know you you were just funnin' but really, a little thing like a DVD is not going to cause a ripple in a 40 year friendship.
