Scooter, thanks for the link, but a lots happened since this incident, I dismantled my projector mount, spackled and painted over the holes and painted over my screen and it is now just a wall again.

I've washed my hands of FP and am set to upgrade to either an LCD or RP, haven't decided which yet.

It's too bad the glass suffered additional damage. Some people claim to have epoxied the remains back together and restored decent operation. Samsung seems to be the only manufacturer that supplies color wheels as replacement parts (~$100) but there's no way to determine beforehand if they are similar in size or orientation.

To be honest I wouldn't even know where to begin to fix a color wheel or even replace it. I'm familliar with the insides of a projector but i'm not so skilled at repairing them.

Nobody has much "experience" with projectors since no Manufacturer has allowed "Field Service" on them. I've been a servicer for 35+ years and only for about three months did Sony (accidentally) allow us to work on their projector. (and I don't think anyone else ever did)

If you have a local TV recycling center, you might be able to pick up a DLP light engine (RCA, Mits, Samsung, for example) for almost nothing. They'd rather sell something for ten bucks than have to recycle it. It's amazing what people are throwing away right now.

You can have the one I was using, Gregg, it's a universal remote that I programmed from the remote I had for my X1 but it still controlled the 4805. I got my 4805 refurbished and they neglected to send me the remote for it, thank goodness the X1 remote worked.

I gave the X1 remote to a friend of mine so I no longer have that one.

I'm no longer using that universal remote if you'd like me to send it to you? Just PM me and let me know.

Well, guys, my 4 month long 20" tv nightmare is almost over, I finally settled on the Mitsubishi WD57733, it's on it's way and should be delivered on Saturday. My God you have no idea how I cannot wait for that thing to get here, my HT has been dead since the 4805 disaster.

Congratulations on your purchase! I hope this works out for you. Personally, I'm so spoiled now by the 96" picture that my 4805 throws up that I'm not sure I could ever "make do" with a RPTV set again.

BTW, I just "Googled" this set and noticed that it's DLP based! Does the set use a high-powered LED array light engine (like some of the Samsung DLP RPTVs), or is the light engine a traditional-for-DLP bulb and color wheel arrangement? If it's the latter, you may not have achieved your "low maintenance" objective. (Although I'm sure the light engine will still last much longer than a bulb in a FP system.)

Thanks, Joseph, i'll be more than happy with this tv i'm sure.

I'm not sure if this is the same page you found but here is the page that basically sold me on the tv, that plus some reviews I read which raved about it. One of the things i'm most excited about, besides this being a full-on 1080p (my first BTW) tv was that it also has a USB port that can display 5 megapixel pictures from a digital camera which is perfect because my camera is 5 megapixels.

I'm also going to connect my pc to it and use it as my monitor.
