SUPERNATURAL - Season 3 - Page 4

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

That was supposed to be the Jason ep? I thought it was fine as is. It actually would have been odd if he was in it, IMO. The theme was more "Elm St" than F13 anyway.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Supernatural: The Complete Fourth Season [Blu-ray]
Supernatural - The Complete Second Season
Supernatural - The Complete First Season

Good to hear. So did they have an alternate villain or nothing of sorts? (didn't see it and will have to wait for the dvds; not from the US)

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Yeah, there was definitely a villain, but it wasn't a role that would have required or benefited from the presence of Jason.

As noted, I'm surprised they were even considering using the character in this ep as I don't see how it would have fit at all, unless it was just to be a cameo of him moving through the dark, creepy woods with dialogue something like:

(Jason walks by, Dean sees him, Sam is looking the other way)
Dean: Sammy, did you see that?
Sam: What?
Dean: I swear I just saw Jason Voorhees walk by.
Sam: Dean, I know this is a dream, but now is not a great time for you to detour into complete fantasyland. Now let's get going.
Dean: (confused look toward the woods; then follows Sam)

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Well, in the interviews with Kripke he clearly stated that the Winchester boys were to FIGHT Jason in this episode, but your idea is nice, too.

But since it was not meant to be I'll enjoy that episode the way it is.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

The episode was exactly the same as the movie Dreamscape...Even down to the bad guys father being abusive. And being used as a distraction in the dream to get the bad guy....

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Tonights episode had me holding my sides and rolling!

I just pictured the writers in a room and having a blast thinking up ways they could whack Dean and wishing I could have been a fly on the wall in that room lol.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

So last week its was Dreamscape. Tonight its Groundhog Day. Right down to the memorable song when Sam wakes up.

Never seen either one, so it's all new to me.

I'm with John that it was a very funny ep. It played almost like a WB Roadrunner cartoon. It would have been great if they'd solicited suggestions from the fans on ways to kill Dean.

Hi, little doggie....*auggggh*

Odd coincidence...I just happened to watch "Tall Tales" Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
(the first Trickster ep)
right before I watched "Mystery Spot".

Me too. My favorite Dean death was hearing him slip in the shower and then they cut right to Sam waking up again.

Overall, this was a very good episode.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Finally watched the episode, and also howled at the Dean Death montage.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

This last episode (which is the last of the "in the can" bunch ) was pretty good, although yet another play on a movie, this time the original Assault on Precinct 13. Still a good storyline development with the introduction of Lilith setting up the upcoming episodes now in production.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Good news, Supernatural got renewed for a fourth season.

Indeed great news.

Well I guess Dean will have more than a year to live.

Nice!

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

I can't wait until Dean discovers that Lilith is a child, I can just hear all of the brat/Omen/Bad Seed jokes now lol.

And was there any doubt that Sam and Dean would find a way out of his contract? I never doubted it for a second.

I know he'll eventually get out of his soul-selling contract (this is a TV show afterall and he's one of the stars), but I still want to see "how" he does it. (So far, the show has not given away an "out clause" they can use).

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Dean's soul will be re-categorized as a "lease-to-own" contract, I suspect.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Great to get confirmation, though I never really expected it to be in danger. Considering the insanely crazy timeslot the CW forces it to occupy, it pulls decent numbers for the netlet.

Yeah, there probably isn't a worse/tougher timeslot for it (I could even see it doing better on Friday or Saturday night since it would have less competition) but I guess it's a vote of confidence that they keep it on the big night when networks break out their flagship shows.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Just a reminder, there's a new episode on tomorrow night.

Also, the first issue of the new Supernatural comic book miniseries came out today and the collection of the first comic book miniseries comes out next week. Sorry, Greg_S_H

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Was I hard on it or something? It will probably read better in trade. I think the current one has young Sam and Dean in it, so it might be alright.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Have to remember to set my recorder tonight. Can't wait! Just wrapped S2 on DVD and was again amazed at the talent of Jensen Ackles. If I were rich, I'd buy the man an Emmy myself.

Talking about books, there's also another novel tie-in announced for August ("Supernatural: Bone Key"). The first two, "Nevermore" and "Witch's Canyon" are out now. Unfortunately, "Bone Key" is by the same author as "Nevermore" which I thought was pretty poorly written.

Disappointed to hear that CW won't spring for a longer season in S4 (22 eps), given they've reaped 6 eps of cost savings in S3 (16 eps) due to the strike. Though, on CW, we should probably just be happy to get an S4 at all. Still, the show is the 3rd or 4th highest rated show on the network airing in the most competitive timeslot of the week.

Hopefully we'll see an S5 too, so we can break the 100 eps barrier.

Yeah, I was looking through this thread last night before posting and in post 83, you said the first comic mini-series "was an incomprehensible mess. I realize he's a producer on the show, but that doesn't make him a comic writer".

Overall, I liked the comics well enough but they're not essential reading for comic fans or Supernatural fans either.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Don't bring up my old quotes. I may no longer endorse their content.

Seriesly, I need to read the whole thing in one sitting. I'm hoping that makes it better, because I couldn't really keep up with what was going on with a monthly break between issues. It didn't help that the artist made John and whoever the other guy was look so much alike that I couldn't keep them separate most of the time.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

Not real thrilled with "Ghostfacers" ep (except for the ending ).

Probably the weakest ep of the season IMO.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

I liked the episode but I don't know if coming back with a comedy was the best idea.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

I thought it was brilliant from the theme music, the reference to the writer's strike and the "poke" at Ghost Hunters. Great satire all the way around.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

I also enjoyed it. Was even a bit freaked out when the bad guy finally showed up.

Re: SUPERNATURAL - Season 3

"Ghost-Facers!" . I can't get that damn jingle out of my head.
