help...have antivirgear virus (or is it a spyware?)...how to kill it?

hi guys
my daughter's PC has antivirgear on it....and keeps popping up its website to purchase its software...kind of slick actually...anyways...

How the heck do I get rid of it?? Ive used norton x 3 and then downloaded AVG antispyware....both have not removed it. I did a google search but didnt find anything too legit.

Is there a program I can run to delete this off of the PC ? Or are there straightforward / easy to follow instructions??

Argh...this has me pissed.

PS: Windows XP Home and MS Explorer (if that makes any difference).

Xoft SpyeSE from (Pareto Logic) sorted a similar problem I had a few months ago; a program called "Errorsafe" starting a "spyware scan" at random times, saying my computer was infected with spyware and transferring me to their web page. A web page that was very difficult to close. The program is not free but reasonably priced and it worked for me.
Spyware Terminator offers a free version which may also be worth a try.

I Googled "antivirgear" out of curiosity, and was bombarded with links detailing how to get rid of this pest. It shouldn't be much of a problem.

It's a "rogue" antispyware program. I suggest visiting a reputable site like Bleeping Computer for instructions for removal.
