Very cool news to hear the thrid season is rolling out late jan, it make a great B day present for my feb 14 b day . Saddly I dont think they be very many interview or extras due to the fact all the the major parties envolved with the show have are dead only james macarthur is still alive. But will see, the previews with jack lord was a kool extra in my book for season two, See you next January Aloha!

Ready for every season Paramount see's fit to release. Good news that this is coming. Seems to be a fairly quick turnaround time for this season.

If only they (Paramount) applied the same speed for "Streets of San Francisco".

Yeah , I personally think they really blunder by releasing a very overpriced half season one set. I think it went over badly with fans and lead to poor sales, the second half of season has been released but there was very little buzz about the release due to it being a half season season release which get very very pricey over the long haul and DDD.com sell the full season set for for 52.12 . Hmm that a discount web site hate to see what the brick and mortars are sell the full season set for.... .Sadly due to paramonts dumb marketing decisions I expect Street to be a one season then abandonment series.

God, I hope not, but I guess there's a danger of that. This whole Vol. business, whoever thought that up ought to be fired, it's the most ridiculous idea since the introduction of DVD. Why they didn't do it like "Hawaii Five O" to begin with, I don't know, same amount of episodes. So many great ones still to come, it shouldn't end now. I mean, I'm sure the fans bought it so it really ought to continue.

I'm sticking to my belief that the split seasons has something to do with WalMart's market research.

I didn't mind it when they split up seasons that would talk more than 6 DVDs. It made sense since Paramount was focused on the single boxes with the swing panels. But now that they're only putting 3 DVDs in the Gunsmoke, it's just annoying.

Honestly I doubt that. What Ive notice spilts usually are happen (with older shows) are ones that havent been in syndication for a while, gunsmoke, streets of san francisco, rawhide, etc... seem to get the split. Generally split seasons are horridable deal 29 to 34 bucks for a incomplete season so in affect your paying double for one season . So I'd really doubt wallieworlds reseach has anything to do with just brain dead media executives try to "save money" and maximize profits on what they view as risky dvd season releases by spilting the season, but instead create lower sales because the fans see the ripoff and wait till they can find it used or in the bargin bin.

But these shows are now in syndication. The Retro TV Network around here (Raleigh, NC) shows Streets of San Francisco, The Fugitive and the Untouchables. Rawhide and the early Gunsmoke run on the weekends. But what gets me is that Paramount doesn't seem to be using their new transfers as part of the deal. Which makes no sense. The Hogan's Heroes looks like it was rescued from Germany. How are you going to get someone curious enough to buy the DVD set if they think Paramount has let the prints go bad?

I'm happy they haven't busted up Hawaii 5-0.

Well maybe, but its what the reruns due in major markets is what the media ghouls are basing their decisions on. Major market like So Cal were I live the streets of san francisco and untouchables were drop from my local over the air station (no cable) retro station due to low ratings were as Hawaii 5-0 and mission impossible and wild wild west get boffo rates have stay on air and all of those show have been getting full season releases. And yes Im glad Hawaii 5 0, WWW and Mission Impossible are get full season releases, I just wish the media ghouls were smart enough to give all series full season releases.

Re: Hawaii five 0

Our Retro TV Network channel is being run on the station's bonus digital channel. And they haven't done any real promo work. They seemed delighted when I emailed them to let them know I'm watching it. So ratings doesn't seem to be a real issue for the channel. Although I've already written them about getting Mannix on the air.

strange that Untouchables would have bad ratings. What time was it being run?

Streets of San Francisco seems to fall into the same realm as Mannix as dramas that had a long network run, but I just don't remember it getting serious syndication action - even with the rise of Michael Douglas. Must be the cult of Jack Lord is more tempting to viewers than Karl Malden's pre-American Express identity.

Do wonder how long Paramount will be releasing their titles on DVD and start re-issuing on an HD Format. Would it almost be better for them to cut back on releases so they don't have to worry about dealing with double dipping the audience - especially for shows that already had complete DVD release? If you only put out half the episodes on DVD and then swapped it over to HD, would you be more prone to rebuying the first half of the series on HD to match quality on the shelf?
