They have at least referenced the related dilemmas. In the previous episode where the opening showed how Ned came to make pies, the narrator pointed out how Ned can never actually eat one of his pies.

Loved tonight's episode. So many great parts:
* Alfredo's discussion of what he would do if he couldn't touch Olive.
* The fact that fingerprints can be easily read after being captured in flour and pressed onto a sticky sheet of fruit candy.
* "Don't mess with the Pie Hos" (and damn, Chuck looked good in that cat burglar costume).
* The not-so-well-hidden gun-in-the-pie.
* Narrator: "Then he realised being locked in prison is worse than some silly methaphor." HA!
* Mike White being just-some-guy-that-really-loves-candy.
And a great cliffhanger.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to pick up on the Birds scene (hmm, why have they made the boat background look like really bad back-projection? Bodega Bay? I know that name? Where do I know it?) although I thankfully did click before the attack started. With The Birds this week, and Emerson's Vertigo dream two weeks ago, I'm wondering if there were any other Hitchcock references I missed.

You see, that one did occur to me as a possible reference to the dumping of the car in the swamp, but I doubt it. The two scenes we've had so far are unmistakable - very very close to the original scenes, Whereas the swamp scene was vaguely reminiscent of Psycho, it wasn't so obvious - for a start the camera position was in the wrong place (on the far side of the hand in the swamp facing back to Molly Shannon, rather than standing on the bank of the swampt with Anthony Perkins).

I loved the send-up of all those forensics show, as well as the Trek reference. The little pop-culture nods are subtle and fun, not heavy-handed and overdone, as they often are on other shows.

I'm struggling a little with this show right now. It's well done, whimsical...but I think I'm getting bored by it. It seems the episodes are becoming a bit repetitive. I will keep watching, and I really want to like it, but I don't know how much longer I can stick around.

On a side note, I'm curious, how does this show do in the ratings?

Not necessarily. It's been picked up for a 22-episode season. So IF the writers' strike ends early enough, there will be more episodes.

I think the fact that the talks broke off without resolution this week bodes poorly. I think neither side has much reason to work things out now, in the short-term.

I caught the tail end of a movie called Deck the Halls, which seemed pretty lousy, but it featured Kristin singing "O Holy Night." It was like listening to an angel descended from Heaven. The performance is on the soundtrack CD, so I may have to get that. The song list in the credits was pretty good anyway, so it wouldn't be just for the one. The thing that blew me away was George Clinton doing a country version of "Up on the Housetop." Turns out it wasn't P-Funk George.

Man, this episode was THE best of the series so far!! And I'm not just saying that because sick boy Abner's house happens to be Samantha Stephens' house

I loved that Chuck was willing to give up her secrets and I also liked the tension between her and the Pie Maker.

And, the ending was a total blind side...but I won't mention anything so as not to ruin it. Anyway, I hope there are more episodes soon but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I agree, that this was a great episode. It was nice to see Paul Reubens in the show again. It's nice he is getting work again.

I hope there'll be new episodes eventually too, but TV Guide's Strike Chart reports that last night's was the last completed episode. Anything new will likely be a month or so after the strike's settled, and that doesn't seem to be imminent, to say the least.

Missing "Pushing Daisies" already.... (Except, you know, hoping for re-runs so I can catch the one that was shifted to a different time so I missed it!)

This was one of the best so far. Emerson was hilarious as usual, and I love the morgue guy. Chuck looked gorgeous on the roof, against the backdrop of the snowy city. I'm dying for her to reveal herself to the "aunts." What would it hurt?

This was close to a Christmas/holiday episode we're going to get.

I would have loved if Olive broke out in at least one holiday song.

Olive's Bosom joke moment was pretty funny.

If I remember right Bryan Fuller stated how he had to make this episode, Corpsicle a season finale and had to write in stuff to "put balls in the air" to leave fans with a few cliffhangers.

I'm wondering why Lily is keeping a secret that she's actually Chuck's mom.

But the most interesting thing is that Emerson has a secret daughter.
This seems to be Emerson's weak spot
I wonder if she's dead or alive?

My favorite moment is after Ned pulls Emerson from the car after being Carbon monoxide poisoned, and Emerson sees Ned's finger, Emerson thought he was dead and brought back to life
