I'd jump for joy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I despise that character even though I like the performer in general.

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

I can't wait to come back to this thread and read all these spoilers once whatever it is has been revealed. Which, thus far, it hasn't been, at least to me.

I'm especially at a loss since I don't despise any of the characters and can't imagine jumping for joy at the permanent loss (through whatever means) of any of them. (Whereas I'd be perfectly happy if a bomb went off at CSI in Miami and the only survivor were Calleigh Dusquene, since on that show the characters I don't hate are in the minority. )

Joe

When that spoiler was posted, I said

a twist to the departure:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
It's being reported now that he was sacked, not leaving on his own

and Joe, avoid the CSI:Miami thread, there's someone leaving there too

No. Really? He scampers off to see...

EDIT:

...ok I'm back. That departure doesn't bother me as much. That's all I'll say without delving into spoilers.

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

I would have mentioned it immediately but I honestly didn't think anyone would care. That character is so underused it won't make the slightest difference.

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

Crime Scene TV Show on NBC, Cast Member Info Available - NBC Official Site

This is the "offical" website for the TV series "Crime Scene: Scene Of The Crime", starring Billy Baldwin and Sarah Marshall (actually Kristen Bell)

It features clips from the "show", in which Baldwin is clearly channeling Horatio Caine, while Bell/Marshall resembles an infinitely superior-and-in-every-way-hotter-than-the-actual Catherine Willows.

Obviously this is a spoof created for the film "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".

Haven't seen the film, but anything that spoofs CSI I'll happily check out.

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

Why call this thread CSI Las Vegas? The name of the show is CSI. There is no need to call it anything else. The other 2 shows are called get this! CSI Miami
and CSI New York

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

Actually the show is called 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'.

Which means Miami and New York are really called:

Crime Scene Investigation: Miami
Crime Scene Investigation: NY

or

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Miami
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: NY

and the on-screen title of New York is (during this fourth season)

CSI:NY
/Crime Scene Investigation

If we're supposed to be nitpicking about the title and location of each show, that is.

Wait, why does this matter?

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

If Joseph saw any recent news about a certain CSI actor's arrest, then consider ye totally spoiled, as that is actually the reason for the person's leaving the show. Said person was fired, and wasn't a simple case of not signing for a new season as previously reported.

To a minor extent, It's Glenn Quinn and his leaving ANGEL over again.

Is that speculation (although it's exactly what I thought when I saw the news) or has there been any official statement or even a 'speaking under the condition of anonymity' statement?

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

When it was announced that Diane Neal from one of the "Law & Order" shows was leaving that series, TV Guide made a point of saying they learned that in both cases, both actors were actually fired but wanted to keep that under wraps, probably out of respect for the actors.

In the CSI's case, perhaps the producers intended to have that character appear from time to time trusting that the actor would be actively working to resolve their personal issues? Just a guess about that part of it, but I'm guessing with this recent arrest, the chances of that are gone.

Spoiler tags only used because it contains THE spoiler. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Hopefully, Gary Dourdan will work out his problems whether he comes back to the show or not. While he has no one to blame but himself for getting so involved with drugs that it has this much of a negative effect on his life, I still wish him the best.

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

Well, I made it all the way through to this morning, when I caught a news headline referring to...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
...the arrest of a "former CSI actor" and giving his name. So if Gary had kept out of trouble - and I'm sorry to hear about what's going on - I might have made it to the end of the season without being spoiled. I don't know if the Warrick drug storyline was the producers way of getting Gary's attention, a way to cover any absences or a way to grease the skids in case they had to let him go, but the irony is rather creepy. I hope crashing like this is the wake-up call he needs and that he gets his act together. He's a good performer and by all accounts a good guy.)

So Nick, tell us how you really feel about Marg. Kristen Bell is cute in a little girl kinda way, but I think Marg is a hot grown-up woman who doesn't make me feel like a child-molestor when I check her out, and a good actress, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

Joe

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

I have to agree with Nick. I don't know how Marg is in real life, but her character is just a bitter shrew. I was really hopping to see Katherine get torchered and murdered by a an evil man. After all to her, all men are evil.

Just to clarify, I am talking about her Character, not Margo herself. I have not seen her interviewed or on a talk show so I haven't a clue about her real personality.

I know nothing about Helgenberger herself. I don't like her, I don't dislike her. The only thing I saw her in other than CSI is "Bad Boys", also produced by Bruckheimer (perhaps that connection led to her being cast in this, happens all the time) so whatever else she's been in, I'd have to check imdb because I have no idea. Seems Scott and I are in the dark about the real her, but the character she plays is just offensive most of the time.

It's the character I hate with a passion, and obviously it's how she's portrayed by both the writers and the person playing that character.
I separate the art from the artist, and in this case it's the art I can't stand, not the artist. If Catherine Willows were played by someone else, and was still the same kind of character she is, I'd still hate her.

Kristen Bell is a little over a year older than I am. I just checked her imdb and it says she is 27, turning 28 the same day "The Dark Knight" opens. I am 26, turning 27 in September. Therefore in my case, there is no "jailbait" issue whatsoever.

I was wondering who those guys were.

Was tonight's episode a re-run?

"Well, Adam, there's an online video showing a man bursting into flame when he gets tazed by a Las Vegas policeman."
"So, we're going to figure how whether or not the video is real."

And to help them test this blazing myth, Jamie and Adam are enlisting the aid of the Las Vegas Crime Scene Investigation Unit, where the incident alleged took place....

I imagine that's what the Mythbusters intro to this would have sounded like...

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

I loved the Jamie and Adam cameo. I wonder if Mythbusters has an upcoming CSI or at last "police procedural" episode coming up, akin to the McGuyver and James Bond shows? It could be that they were just dropped into that one scene as a goof, or because somebody on the show is a fan (or they're big fans of CSI) but if I were involved I'd be looking for a way of having both shows benefit from the connection.

(Paraphrasing):

"You're like a total nerd trapped in a woman's body."

"So are you."

Can't wait for next week. (For Two and a Half Men as well. )

Is the season finale on May 15 or May 22?

EDIT: According to what I've read, it's May 15.

It was certainly nice of them to have the magnifying glass set up on Grissolm's desk to assure us that was indeed a DELL laptop he was using.

That WAS shameless...and pretty funny.

Thing is, my wife and son completely missed it until I ran it back and showed them (pointing it out).

Re: CSI: Las Vegas Season 8 thread

I'm not a viewer of "Two And a Half Men" so I can't judge the quality of the episode compared to the average one of that show, but I really enjoyed and laughed throughout this writer's crossover tonight.

The spin on the theme, the "CSI style" shots of that kid's digestive processes, George Eads' cameo, the Catherine Willows look-a-like, all good stuff, and funny.

I call it a success, but can't imagine how it stands up for fans of that show.

Apart from some of the visuals, it was actually a pretty normal episode, and wrapped up a two story arcs (Teddy's romance with Evelyn and the later addition of Teddy's "daughter") that have been going on for awhile. Anybody who enjoyed it should think about tuning in again.

Many LOL moments and lots of great things that played off the cliches of both series. Loved Charlie's crack on the female CSI's wardrobe, which is both totally in character for Charlie and a comment on Catherine's Prada wardrobe, which is hardly police issue and often over the line professionally. And, of course, the moment when they used the ALS to check Charlie's room for semen. I thought they were just going to have the whole place light up like one giant blacklight poster. "It looks like a Jackson Pollack painting" That was just a great example of applying CSI's method to the 2aaHM reality.

Great stuff. Can't wait for Thursday.

Joe
