Smallville - Season 7 thread - Page 17

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Okay, enoughs enough, if Allison leaves than just cancel the freakin' show already.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

This is really beginning to smell like one of those programs that is overstaying it welcome... Shame on you, CW!

I am guessing that the Clark/Lex showdown in the fortress next week will set the stage for Lex's departure. This goes back to what I said three or four weeks ago about "Descent" and how I thought that Millar/Gough may have been using it as the preamble to a series (not season) finale. I wonder if whatever happens next week between Clark and Lex was to have served as the impetus for Clark to finally fulfill his destiny. Lex becomes so totally evil that there is no possible hope of redemption. Clark goes off to train. Fade to black...

They would be fools to let her leave. She is one of the best things about the show.

Welling's leaving, too. It's going to be renamed Clark Kent's Acquaintance, Jimmy Olsen.

Agreed. Though I've always felt that Allison was destined for a career in movies. Much like Nathon Fillion, from Firefly/Serenity. These are stars who deserve a breakthrough.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

I've always felt bad for Nathan Fillion, he's a great actor with classic movie star good looks who always seems to find himself involved with cancelled shows, he was awesome in Firefly which is a show that i'm watching for the very first time currently.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

He's one of those guys that you just look at and think, "That guy is cool." I think they should seriously tap David Conrad to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, but Fillion would be an excellent second choice.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

However he was in that unforgettable slime-fest Slither.

He was very funny in it, too lol.

I'll always remember him best as Caleb, the psychotic priest in season 7 of Buffy.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Can't they use some of the money they are saving with Kreuk and Rossenbaum and give it to Mack?

I agree about Fillion. He deserves a Big Movie career.

I wonder if Gough and Millar are just finishing their vision of "Smallville" as a series as though the CW had not extended it again. What comes next will not be "Smallville" as such. It will be someone else's take on the continuation of the Superman saga: post Smallville but pre-Superman. Next year really deserves a new name. It could be a new multi-year arc or a series of random episodes; both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

i just caught this season from ep2 onward to the most recent in anticipation of the finale tonight.

i think this is the best season of the series so far. why? s1-6 had great season premiere and finales and some sweep episodes in between, but this season has been consistently changing a lot of things from the first through the last. i mean it's still a mediocre show, but there were some nifty out of this world (literally) moments like supergirl flying to space then back.

plus, she's soooooooooooooooooooooooOOOO hawt =D. and of course that makes the show at the moment. i luv how the producers know that the fans like T&A and just goes about parading sexy chix in bikinis, skimpy outfits, etc. i think that's why we all STILL WATCH IT! it's certainly not for the supes mythos .

If anyone cares, Mack is back for next season.

I would imagine almost everyone in this thread cares. Her involvement or lack thereof was literally going to make or break the next season.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Good news indeed. With Lana and Lex gone, I can't imagine this series without Chloe.

With the show's original creators gone, maybe the "no tights, no flight" bullshit can be thrown out the window.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Did we ever give you a reason to think we wouldn't care about Allison coming back, Patrick?

So, it all came out tonight and Lex knows about Clark, but what happened at the fortress? I for one am dying to find out! Interesting role reversal on the part of the writers, they made Lex seem like the hero and Clark the villain, but as we all know every good screen villain thinks he's doing the right thing and the good guy is the wrong one.

Okay, i'll admit it right here in front of all of you, I teared up a little with Lana's goodbye DVD. I loved her since the beginning, never felt the way most did that she was a waste etc, she served a purpose and brought light to the show with her beauty and charm and i'm going to miss her.

Now, for the big one...we just saw the last of Michael Rosenbaum as Alexander 'Lex' Luthor.

As a fan of Smallville I will mourne this loss VERY deeply, he was one of televisions great characters brought to life by a capable and talented young actor.

Goodbye, Kristen and Michael.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

That was probably the weakest season finale ever for Smallville, though it did have some decent bits sprinkled into it.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Well, at least they got all the non-dead main characters some screen time. That's about as good as I can call it on this one.

Incredibly weak, rushed, horrible effects (specifically the ending), characters acting like complete idiots (namely Clark). I have a feeling someone realized "OOPS...this isn't the series finale so we need to throw some cliffhangers in here."

I've never had a problem with Lana from the very beginning but I couldn't care less about the goodbye. After not seeing Clark with her in any capacity the last couple of weeks, I kinda felt like who cares?

And add to that the local CW affiliate had an issue with the HD feed. I couldn't get the signal through the entire show.

Why only go back that far, though? She was a member of the core cast and she shared many adventures with everyone and it's for that reason that i'll miss her.

It's never nice to say goodbye to a character you've watched for so long and i'm depressed, I can't be alone here, am I?

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

I think it has to do with the way it happened. We all knew she was leaving, so there wasn't any suspense about it. Almost like having a checklist of things we know has to happen before the credits come on. At least Lex in the fortress had a bit more ambiguity. Lana point blankly said BYE BYE after the news of Kreuk leaving has been out there for, literally, months.

The good old days of Lana running the Talon. I realized tonight how much I missed the simpler times when action revolved around the coffee shop.

Not for me. It doesn't come close to how bad the one was that ended with Lex and Lana on the roof.

I liked the episode, but it seemed like a weird final episode for Rosenbaum, Miller and Gough. That can't have been any of their ideas of "well, that's our final statement on Smallville!" I have to wonder if they filmed part of the season premiere so we can have some kind of followup with Lex. Not a strange way to end it on a normal finale, but strange with the big cast loss.

Thank God for the DDS. They came in at just the right moment. I hope Jimmy gets knocked on the head and forgets he proposed. I've warmed up to him a little, but I still don't want to see that.

My sentiments exactly. Rosenbaum's last episode should've been something special. Smallville's seasons finales have been awesome. This one was anything but.

So what's the word out there? Was the real season finale compromised because of the strike or was this the intended one all along?

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Wow this was a terrible episode. As usual, everything was rushed.

Brainiac got "sick" from Chloe then went out way to easy.

The Jimmy/Lex stuff was so retarded, wa i can't lie gimme a break!

Lets see, all these years with Clark and Lex built up to.....that! The dialog and emotion in many of Clark and Lex's past scenes have been much more dramatic. You would think this would have been epic, Lex finally knowing for sure about Clark. Clarks line to Lex about never hurting Lex, oh please he should have told Lex HOW many times he has saved his life!

All in all, terrible season finale and worse conclusion to the Clark/Lex dynamic this show has been building up for years. What a waste!

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

Of course everything was rushed. There was a strike for several months. All shows have been rushed upon their return.
Decent episode but not one of the best season finales and Kristin must have filmed her video scene from the set of her movie. People are saying that the Clark/Lex scene was anti-climatic. What about the Clark/Lana scene? They didn't even get to say goodbye face to face.

Glad Chloe and even Oliver will be back next year.

Yes, thank God Chloe was arrested and incarcerated for national sercurity crimes before Jimmy could propose, cuz THAT would be bad.

I forgot to mention my favorite line last night, it was from Lex...

"This is a MAJOR step up from the barn."

That line made me laugh for some reason lol.

Ahh, i'm still feeling the loss of Rosenbaum the next morning, well, at least now the poor man can go grow some much deserved hair, the guy is missing his best hair years because of this show lol.

Yes, I really hope that they already did film at least part of the season opener. It was coming down to the visit to the Arctic and I was looking at the clock, knowing there wasn't enough time to wrap it up. Then my DVR pulled a fast one and ended before the end. Luckily, it was just a momentary glitch (and none my kids were in the room at the time while I expressed my shock) and there really was about 2 minutes of show recorded.

By the way, in the previous episode when Brainiac supposedly trapped Kara in the phantom zone, were there any clues (while on Krypton) that this happened? They seemingly defeated him and then left. When we saw her on the ground I thought she had just been infected or something.

Speaking of Brainiac - he was rejuvenating himself with the power there. So, Clark just gave him a more direct overdose of power? I really didn't think it was going to work.

I believe the end of the last episode had Kara getting some orange juice and droppinig the pitcher. I can't quite remember if she fell or not, but when the OJ splashed on the ground, I immediately said Brainiac to myself. I hate when I'm right.

I remembered that, but in this episode Brainiac says she never left Krypton (and we see her phantom zone trap thing popping out of space), so there appears to be an inconsistency.

Re: Smallville - Season 7 thread

While Rosenbaum is leaving (left?), I can't imagine the season premier being without him as he is key to the cliff hanger resolution. Is he not contracted for a few eps next season?

In regards to the episode itself, I was a little underwhelmed but am curious how it will be resolved in four months.
