How I Met Your Mother Season 3 - Page 4

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

I missed part of the episode due to a friend calling, but what I caught was hilarious.

Loved the dwistrepa apartment being crooked and then playing Apartment Roller Luge!

Too bad Vanessa wasn't wearing what she wore in Maxim!

Anyone else looking forward to next week's episode for Sarah Chalke and not Britney?

I'd be surprised if the girl Ted bumped into was not the momma, though she didn't appear to be an actress we'd know, so we're probably going to be strung along for as long as the show is on the air.
i don't think they've picked the actress yet. it'd be big news if they did, and you can't keep something like that a secret... i wonder if they find out if they show gets a 4th season before the end of this season? that might play a big factor. i don't think the ratings are anything to write home about though.
personally i haven't like this 3rd season nearly as much as the first 2.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

All of the snaps on Barney's green suit were hilarious.

I also assumed the woman he bumped into was the mother, but now I think she was prominent only to say the name of the guy with the tab. Frankly, that actress was too average/nondescript looking to be the mom.

I think that this episode implies that none of the women Ted has met so far is the mom.

Is it possible that Smulders has gotten hotter since the last episode aired?

Britney who?

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

The girl that Ted bumped into has to be important in some way (mother?). That scene was just to obvious for it to be a throw-away.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

With all the misdirection that goes on in the 1hr long dramas (Lost, et al) I'm surprised no one thinks it wouldn't be done in a 1/2 hr sitcom where this is really the only long running shocker/surprise they have going for them. I think the woman was just that, a setup to get people talking about if this is really her.

Whenever "How I Met Your Mother" ends, I hope there will be a new Cobie Smulders channel.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

they've already said that they didn't find out until years later that they were at the same party. so unless they forget bumping into eachother (which is entirely possible) it's not her.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. My favorite part was the 2-minute date, far better than speed dating.

Britney was looking damn good tonight. If this was a move to generate some positive publicity for her, it was an excellent move.

Can I ride the quintcycle with Britney, Sarah, Alyson and Cobie?

Barney being sent to the corner for his fireball was hilarious.

Could anyone tell if the French that Josh and Sarah spoke is accurate at all?

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

Anyone catch that Sarah Chalke's character could only get a sitter for an occasional girls' night out and a St Patrick's Day Party?

Then again, it all seems too easy.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

It started out a little slow, but any episode making Ted look like a jackass in lust is okay by me. Loved the 'tache bet payoff.

Robin looked great with her hair parted from her left to right (rather than down the middle).

But she was criminally under-used in this episode. Everybody else got a nice scene or two, but Colbie was just window-dressing sitting at the table at the bar. (Very nice window-dressing, mind you, but I like it better when she gets to - you know - act. )

Loved the reveal of Barney as the obnoxious jerk on the phone. Pity they spoiled the tag by running it in the promos every 10 minutes for the past week.

Joe

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

I really enjoyed this episode -- though I don't understand why they (1) had Britney on the show and (2) what was the point of her character? Desparate pop stars aside...

I was impressed how well Sarah Chalke fit into the show and the role. The implication that she's the "mother" is interesting, and she would be a good choice for the character, I think.

The two-minute date was sublime. A magical bit of TV for me.

Nice tie-in with March Madness and Barney's sexual conquests finally catching up to him.

The closing segment was the best part, with the old blue computer screen and everything.

Yes, a great homage to Doogie Howser. They were even playing the same music they used when Doogie started typing.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

Cobie Smulders in the bar seduction scene?

The writers need to hook up Barney and Robin. That would be....wait for it....awesome!

"I've got a list. It's called my marriage license!" Excellent line!

The high five and the 'tudes on their faces made it even funnier.

My guess is that the woman who was ratting out Barney was Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Lily!

1) Stunt-casting. It may not be sweeps month, but with the show returning from the long strike-break and in a new timeslot to boot, it made sense to get a bunch of free publicity to draw more eyeballs. For Britney there as a paycheck, a credit, and a chance to appear to America as not-bad-looking and not-crazy.

2) She was Ted's exaggerated shadow - stalking and obsessing over him in a comically creepy way that both resembled and contrasted with Ted's relationship with the doctor. As a comic device the role made perfect sense quite apart from the casting.

I didn't notice anything that made this implication any stronger in her case than in most in that of most of Ted's other semi-serious interests. Did I miss something?

Yeah, it was great. Ted does sappy romance very well.

Hanson -

I was thinking the same thing about your spoiler.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
But the shot where Ted says that Barney would later find out seemed to emphasize a woman with curly blonde hair who had her back to the camera and who as partially obscured by someone else in the crowd. At least to that extent she matched the description that Lily gave Barney. Something about the way Ted said that also made me think that Barney's nemesis may, in fact, be the future Mother. It would be interesting if she were a conquest of Barney's.

It was the line about her being at a St Patrick' s Day party -- Ted and Barney had been to a St Paddy's party the ep before, and that was the one that the mom had attended. Now, there are more than two or three such parties on that day, so it doesn't prove anything. I tend to think that Chalke is not the one, and that was just a red herring.[/quote]

However, Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the voiceover doesn't specify that the blonde is the stalker, just that Barney would eventually find out her identity. It's the camera pan that makes you think that it's her, but it isn't actually stated that way.

Lot's of red herrings this season.

My guess is the "wrecker," is Heloise, the unseen scrapbook store worker.

Re: How I Met Your Mother Season 3

I was thinking yesterday, as I watched the "Bracketology" episode, that if the show were to be cut short at the end of this season, we would never get to find out all the things bad things that have been implied will befall Marshall and Lily based on his choice to take the "evil" job. That could be a whole season arc in itself.

Seemed to work. I'm pretty sure the ratings have been up since the break.

I just think it's awesome that the website has been up since 10/9/06. Is that true? If it is, that's the longest paying setup I think I've ever seen.

I laughed and hard at last nights episode. You gotta love the song on the website too btw.

There was the episode where Marshall was being courted by the evil law firm and they give him the theme park to represent. They flashed forward to a huge scandal at the park, which seemed like a good setup for a whole season's worth of Marshall subplots. I mean, I would hope they don't leave that plotline unanswered, with Marshall and Lily fans wondering how he got out of that mess.
