Agreed. I have the "Full WYSIWYG Text Editor" option, and I got used to having the full-featured Quick Reply box, and not having to hit the "Reply to Thread" button.

Also, the preview text balloons formerly brought up by hovering over a thread title seem to have disappeared. I am on Opera, and occasionally little hacks which work in "other browsers" don't for me, so I don't know if they've been left out or not.

Christopher:

I have the quick reply fixed. I am using Opera 9.23 and the preview text works just fine. I am not sure what you mean by the "Replay to Thread" button issue.

Yup. See screen cap below. The tabs include all the text.

Now, though, the next button bar (located just under the HTF logo) is wrapping around and even splits the "Quick Link" link onto two lines. [EDIT** -- Maybe if you simply removed the work "Picture" from "Profile Picture Gallery"...or something like that.]

Re: A new look for HTF.........

LOVE the new text preview "look"--the yellow word balloons when you roll your cursor over a thread title. The only thing is...it doesn't seem to work in one's UserCP. Didn't it used to?

I'm glad to have a lot of text from the first post in the balloon. The way it originally was in the blue skin rarely gave enough information.

EDIT** I also LOVE the fact that the word balloons "instinctively" know whether to appear above or below the link based upon where the link sits on the monitor view. Used to be that they all appeared "below" the link...forcing me to scroll up the page in order to see a thread preview of a link near the bottom of my monitor view.

Mike:

When you say the used to work in the User CP do you mean your subscribed threads?

Yup. That's what I mean. But I wouldn't swear to it in court. I just checked in the old skin and it doesn't do it now...but then, the format of the preview text has changed in the old skin, too. Maybe I was imagining (remembering) something incorrectly.

I would (come to think of it) probably only that use that feature to investigate threads that were new to me--not already a subscribed thread in my UserCP.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

OK, seeing the preview balloons and the additional options in the Quick Reply box now.

I never did have a problem with the "Post Reply" button, other than remembering what it is called while typing my reply!

Re: A new look for HTF.........

i loved the blue look, but I tried the other skins, and now I can't get out of WAP. HOW DO I GET OUT OF WAP! It's ugly and it makes my heart cry! WAAAAAH!

I could cry more if it well generate the suitable sympathy.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Maybe.
Maybe we need a new Dog.
Maybe we need a CAT!

Mike:

The thread previews are working in subscribed threads now.

I no longer see "White Skin" as an option. Has it been removed or am I getting an error?

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Yes, the white skin option is missing....I hope it comes back because, although I "like" the blue skin, I happen to love the old style.

It seems to have returned.

Parker:

Have you changed something in the UserCP? It seems that there are "signature" and "signature rules" boxes now both above the "new subscribed threads" and 'favorite threads" boxes. Both of those "signature" boxes seem to want to intermittently be open when I return to the UserCP.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

I was wondering if something was up as well Mike. My User CP doesnt have any subscribed threads in it. Opps, i found my subscribed threads way down BELOW all the rules. Just didnt scroll far enough down.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Ahh...that's better.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

There is a small - (minus) sign in the title bar for Signature and Signature Rules that will allow you to close this down and it will stay collapsed the next time you visit the user control panel.

I love those small touches. Really makes the site feel like a community.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

The pumpkin has been around for about 8 years now.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Parker:

Not sure how much you might care about this...but in the white skin, when you view your own profile...in-between the "View Profile" box and "Signature" box is a "Buddies" box in which you have a display of all your "buddies" on the HTF for quick access. That "buddies" box does not appear in the blue skin.

Edit: And I don't know how important this is either, but the title bar of the "signature" box doesn't match the rest of the boxes on the page. But, then again, it doesn't match the other boxes on the profile page in the white skin either.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

The "Search" button on the top menu bar (just under the banner ad) on the Portal Page doesn't work.

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/search.php

It sends you to an error page. The "Search" button on most other pages seems to work:

Henry: The Search button at the top of THIS page?

Re: A new look for HTF.........

There's a couple of new features in the UserCP:

Your Last Five Threads

Your Last Five Posts

While they seem obvious in intent, my "Your last five posts" doesn't seem to reflect what my last five posts actually are. I think my "Your last five threads" might be right, though.

Yeah. I think Parker worked his usual magic after I posted about it.

Re: A new look for HTF.........

Many of the links and some of the text appear white on white in the White Skin now. Is there anything I can do about this?
