In our walkout basement we have our home theater and game room next to each other with an open area between them. I want close this area temporarily to control sound and light. I want to some thing like window treatment (Curtains) between them. What options do I have?

Not an expert on your situation but my wife does interior decorating and she had indicated that a "curtain" or "drapery" is not going to give you much sound protection. It will help you to control light because you can get curtains with "black out" lining that will cut off most all lighting.

How big of an opening are you trying to close off? Is it a cased opening or a full height opening all the way to the ceiling? Do you a picture?

A curtain will give you zero sound protection. Your only solution is headphones.
