Re: Nosferatu: Ultimate Two-Disc Edition (11/20)

So, should I get the Kino release? I read that the famous shot of Nosferatu standing up in the coffin is cropped at the top again. Was this a mistake?

Here is DVD Beaver's comparison between the newer MOH and Kino versions, in the review he doesn't mention a bad PAL conversion on the Kino version and can't seem to understand why the Kino version is sharper than the MOH version when MOH has a higher bitrate.....he does show a capture that shows combing but I will still be going with the Kino version for the time being, looks pretty good to me and definitely better than the overly sharpened former Kino version. YMMV.

One must wonder why Kino can't be bothered to do a proper PAL-NTSC conversion instead of taking these annoying shortcuts.

Re: Nosferatu: Ultimate Two-Disc Edition (11/20)

I just bought the Kino edition yesterday. The print looks miles and miles better than any version of Nosferatu I've seen. The DVD though is plagued with artifacting. If it weren't for the fact that my Oppo player creates artifacts while converting PAL discs on-the-fly, I'd probably sell the Kino and get the MoC. As it is I'll stick with the NTSC and curse Kino under my breath.
