Can not get video on a new plasma

I just got a 50" panasonic plasma (TH-50px75u) and I can't get it to display video using component cables. I Have an Onkyo TX-RS573 recieiver that I have a Dish Network sat box going through. With the old crt I just used an s-video cable. The s-video cable works on the plasma too but the picture is horrible. So can somebody tell me the best way to connect a Dish Network Sat box, Onkyo surround sound reciever, Sony DVD player and a Panasonic plasma tv?

Tell us how you have it set up now. Be specific, including cable types and input designations (Video1, Component 1, etc.).

Re: Can not get video on a new plasma

Ok I got a picture but it is no where near good enough. My old crt look much better. I've got a Dish Network dual tuner dvr. I have it connected to an Onkyo TX SR573 reciever. I am using the Onkyo reciever as a switch. I also have a dvd player connect through the reciever. I think my problem may be that the sat reciever doesn't have any component or hdmi outputs. Do I need to order an hd sat reciever?

It is useless to buy a modern plasma without at least one HD source. SD, especially satellite compressed SD, is fair to horrendous on an HD display.

I wish I had known that before I bought the new set. Could suggest the cheapest way to get an hd signal with out buying anything?

That TV has an ATCS over the air tuner, so depending on how close you are to the broadcast signal, you can pick up HD with the purchase of a simple antenna. Go to http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx and click on "Choose an Antenna" to see what is needed in your area to get an OTA HD signal. You also have a QAM cable style tuner and depending on your cable company, you may be able to receive unscrambled HD channels from just a basic cable account with no box.

The only other option is to upgrade to an HD sat box.

Got Video now more questions

Well I bit the bullet and upgraded to an HD DVR from Direct TV. So now my question is, what is the best way to hook everything up. I have the 50" panasonic with HDMI, the HD DVR with HDMI and an Onkyo TX 573 reciever with component input/output. I also have fiber optic audio on all components listed if that matters. Right now I only have 2 front floor speakers (Polk R30) and a small sub. Can I use the tv's speaker for the center channel? I am trying to connect everything so I can use just one remote. Right now I have 4.
