Opinion on LCD becoming sole HDTV technology in the future.

So I keep hearing LCD is taking over the shelf space in the stores.
The screens are getting bigger, the picture is getting better, the price is dropping. Samsung & Sony both investing $2 billion in LCD panel factory and R&D....etc, etc..

Articles on DLP being sales dropping, being a happy 3rd place?

It might be the case in the years to come, however, the current crop of LCD (flat panel) TVs aren't that great for fast action. I still see some trails during fast action. The contrast ratio while sometimes approaching the plasmas, are still trailing behind. Watch out for the cheap LCD TVs, they are still not there.

Of the current technologies it seems to be the most marketable, but you're ignoring the fact that new technologies will come out.

LCD (flat panel) makes some compromises in picture quality, but still sells really well because they've gotten the prices down and it's flat screen which people like.

If we ever see mass-market laser, OLED or SED then one of those will probably eventually take over . . . until the next thing comes along. I don't believe we'll ever see another technology dominate the market the way CRT did for 50+ years.
