Battlestar Galactica Season 4 - Page 4

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

OK, I read that Razor is supposed to be a mini-series. But I only find it as a 2 hour movie. Someone have all the schedule details on this. It airs tonight!

Mini-Series usually is 2 or more nights. So I was thinking 2 hours tonight, 2 tomorrow, or something similar.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

It's a 2 hour movie.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I just finished watching Razor and I really liked it. I think it did a good job filling in the Pegasus back story and gave us some interesting news about the coming season.

Now we know why Cain and Six hated each other so much. There is nothing more dangerous then a woman betrayed.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit but didn't need the Quizno's "Now we know...the admiral and Six were lovers" after every commercial break. If this doesn't cry out for "wait for DVD in a week" I don't know what does! That said, who cares. The product I wanted to see what fantastic. Fills out the back story of the Pegasus and answers some questions (was the previous XO's stories true? Or blather?). I like the tidy ending summing up the fact that both Battlestars started out essentially the same with a number of same choice points but in the end had hugely different outcomes. Good stuff.

The best part was the geekiest, though, and that was the interplay between the three Cylon pilots. That was worth the price of admission alone and I am not afraid to say it! :-)

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I was totally into it. I thought that Shaw had a lot of chemistry with the other actors - like I loved the scene at the end with Starbuck and all her scenes with Cain.
It definitely got the wheels turning as to a lot of larger series questions ....

Agreed. I found the spot you mention (wherein the announcement is followed by "Quiznoz... MMMmMMMMmmm..") to be in very poor taste. It clearly had sexual overtones and was inappropriate.

Great episode/movie/whatever it was. Here's hoping we get the whole fourth season in 2008.

We'll at least start with the 9 or 10 they shot, but who knows how the strike affects any post production going on.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

How is a writers' strike going to affect post-production?

Well, showrunner and head writer Ronald D. Moore refuses to do his producing duties, either. That means he won't edit or work on any post functions. Maybe that's changed now that both parties are back to the bargaining table; we'll see.

Seems I'm late to the party...

I've been going through withdrawal since I've started listening to the soundtracks.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I kinda thought Razor sucked..

Mostly it was that annoying Kiwi.. Can't even put a finger on why I disliked her so much.. She was hot, but...

Anyone else disapointed?

Maybe I just had my expectations so high after so long?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I thought it was pretty good. It was a little predictible in spots, but just whets the appetite for the upcoming season of BSG.

Hmm...

Yeah, that totally escaped me till you mentioned that, but YEAH!

Fight/Flight

Take the civilian fleet under your wing/ strip them and ditch them

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

When it was revealed that Cain had a relationship with Gina, I thought it went a little way to explaining why she reacted with such fury to her and had her tortured. For a second, she seemed a little less crazy. But then she kills her executive officer in cold blood and orders the deaths of human civilians and you realize she is no less crazy than we thought. Forbes' portrayal presented a complex character, but one who was an absolute monster when it came down to it.

Just as an aside - if anyone is looking for a little bit of fun, try reading this thread:

It's the initial thoughts prior to and just after the mini-series. For some reason I found it entertaining

cheers!

The very first post in that thread absolutely had me on the floor. Hysterical.

How much things have changed since this little "remake" project was first announced...

Indeed. That whole thread made for a good time-killer between classes today. I've personally been guilty of a few impolite comments, but man, some of that thread was downright nasty

The sheer lunacy reaches epic levels too, it's great!

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I remember participating in that thread but I don't think I wrote anything nasty. Some of the posters, though, were a little scary in their slavish devotion to the original series.

I'm really looking forward to the DVD release of Razor on Tuesday.

Great find, Josh! I had forgotten about that thread, but I remember reading all of it at the time. I wonder what ever happened to the OP and what he thinks about the new BSG now.... You should have bumped the thread and let everyone have a laugh!

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Wow, so many of those folks are gone! I saw the Richard Hatch pilot (parts of it anyway) at a sci-fi con a few years ago, and it was cool to see what the old show would look like 25 years later! Razor gave me hope for the 4th season, cause if i have to sit through a show as bad as the last 1/2 of the third season got...well, the old show was not any worse than Rocky in Space, my most hated episode of season 3. The last 2 or 3 episodes of season 3 were also good. I have hope for a great final (SPLIT) season, and i hope the writes strike doesnt kill the show, or weaken its writing.

Although, you gotta admit that the "BALTAR LOOKS LIKE A GODDAMN DAYTIME TALK SHOW HOST" pronunciamento is still kinda right on the money, especially after New Caprica...

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I watched the unrated cut last week and thought this cut was much better than the one Sci-Fi channel showed on the 24th of last month. More of the early Adama backstory (some of which appeared in the webisodes online) during the first Cylon war, more of the original Cylons and, this is the part I liked the most, a bit of background on Cain's character when she was a young girl. Didn't have a chance to watch a lot of the extras, but I did watch the webisodes, which I think ran about 17 minutes or so total.

Can't wait until Tuesday to get the HD DVD set.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I think of the furor over the initial remake almost every time I watch an episode, mainly because the series has exceeded expectations on so many levels. And as the middling Bionic Woman remake has shown, it's something that doesn't happen often even when you have a competent person at the reins.

I actually didn't watch the mini-series until it was well into the first season and my initial reaction was "What was all the complaining about?" But then I can't say I was ever that committed to the original.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

So, I'm not sure if anyone wants to start discussing season 4 this early, but does anyone think there is a chance for a 13th Cylon?

Given what we know about the mythology/mythologies (ie Human and Cylon), it seems there is at least a passing attempt at showing similarities between the Humans, and their "offspring," the Cylons. Perhaps this could extend to the existence of a "lost, 13th Cylon."

There isn't really any proof, per se, for this, I'm really just musing about the overall sameness between both races.

Afterall, "All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again."

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

i hated the original BSG. i think people luv them because they were young when they saw them. they cherished the MEMORY of watching BSG... not the series itself. i've seen every single ep of 77 and 80's. it is just horrible on every level.

that's why i'll never get why there's even an argument in the first place. BSG the new thing shouldn't even be called BSG. should've been just "inspired by" but call it somn else.

Considering that this "Season 4" thread is already four pages long, I think its started! Just be careful of spoilers. From what I've seen written, "Razor" was counted against the total episode order for season 4 anyway. Don't know if that is still true though.

Yes and no. Season 4 is going to be twenty episodes. "Razor" counted as two more for a total of twenty-two episodes ordered but doesn't count againt the twenty-episode season total.

Granted, just testing the discussion waters, as much of those four pages are really just season state date/episode number info, and the nature of Razor.

However, am I to assume the same rules apply to most of the TV season threads? In particular, something from an old season (in this case, 1 through 3) isn't a spoiler per se, and thus no need for walls and walls of spoilerized text when referencing "old episodes?"
