Was this the first time we've seen the innards of a raider?

No first season with Starbuck, then Bulldog, there is flesh, of some sorts involved, and from Razor, the older models sort of bleed, from the beat down Adama gave the one

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Didn't RDM put the little snippets of the episodes at the beginning as sort of an homage to Space: 1999?

think that is what it is an hint to, but it gives away to much

That would be an interesting twist certainly Brian. What if the only salvation the skinjobs will have is to defect and reconcile with the Colonials?
Definitely an interesting possibility. I could think of lot worse developments than having thousands, perhaps millions of Sixes join the what's left of the human race

I have a follow-on observation. In the battle shown during the season opener, when a Raider was destroyed, I saw red mixed into the explosion. This was the first time I ever noticed that and certainly made for a very nice detail.

I don't think even Admiral Adama would complain.

He would complain if he had any sense. The sixes are manipulative genocidal maniacs.

And I think it would be Ones, Fours and Fives. The Threes have already been boxed.

As an aside, when Lee previously mentioned that 'something has opened up' I had assumed that he was going to take some sort of aide to the President position, but hadn't quite thought he was going into politics himself directly. Having said that, something Lee said about that didn't quite make sense: he seemed to say that Tom Zarek was appointing him to a vacancy on the Quorum, but isn't the Quorum an elected body? And secondly, Zarek is Sagittaron, whilst I'm pretty sure the Adamas are Caprican, so Zarek can't/wouldn't appoint a Caprican (even if he had power to appoint) to a Sagittaron vacancy, whilst he would have no business getting involved in a Caprican vacancy. (All this assumes that seats on the Quorum are designated for specific colonies, just as for instance the US Senate has two senators from each state.)

Which leads me to wonder: with much being made of Roslin dying of cancer, does Lee somehow wind up President, or VP? Leading ultimately to a stand-off with dear old dad the Admiral?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I just assume the Quorum has the power to fill vacancies that occur in the middle of their term instead of holding a special election.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

For those wondering where the new podcasts are...

Apparently, Moore had been recording them on an old tape deck, which he lost. He's borrowed something more high tech (and phallic?) and plans to start recording from 4x03 on.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

well i dont know when it will happen but expect to see #3 back, promo pics, and the fact that they had lucy on the letterman bit, hints that it will happen, now that the search for the final 5 has started, why not revive the one who started before the rest.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Yee Ming Lim, I'm sorry to ask you this (because of my ignorance), but your family name is Yee, isn't it? I get a bit confused with how people of (possible) Chinese descent write their name.

When those centurions came into the room I knew there was some serious stuff going down. I think think the last time we saw that was at the beginning of the mini-series, with Six coming in and the the centurions coming behind her. Only this time, the centurions seemed a bit more menacing.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Zarek isn't just the Quorum member for Saggitaron, he's also the VP. Perhaps the VP of the colonies gets to nominate people for the Quorum, if not appoint them outright.
Interesting that Zarek would nominate Lee, though, because Zarek was against even giving Baltar a trial and Lee is the one who got Baltar off. Maybe he respects Lee's principles, even if he doesn't agree with them.
If and when (and really, it's the last season so it's likely a matter of when) Rosalin dies, will Zarek become the president? Will Lee be his VP, or will there be a power struggle?
Also, I just realized recently that Rosalin was appointed president both times, and not elected. What is Ron Moore trying to say?

or maybe the system is going to get around to a legal /justice system, as judges, we have ships captains’, and while it worked for baltars trial, I can see that being a problem, it also gets lee into the cabinet, as it were so, what ever happens to roslin, who is there to step up?

I mean we have a president and VP, and the quorum of 12, that equates to a small congress, but as for actual administration, she really has nothing to keep roslin in check, the teaser about dictator, made me think more, who actually questions what she does, she makes her mind up and that is the last word.

Remember, Zarek's first experience with Lee was Lee telling him that he read his book when it was banned. He also saved his life from Starbuck's sniper shot, and most importantly, disobeyed his father and Roslin to get the presidential election going by negotiating with a "terrorist." Zarek has a lot of respect for Lee as someone willing to think and act by himself for the good of all, I think.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Sci-Fi is running the new episode again, but this time you don't have to wait for noon EST (you can see it on the hour from 9am to 4pm now). I still prefer Hulu.com for some of my favorite streamed shows (the screen options are better for one) but they generally post 'em up the following day. Even so, I caught the next one on Sci-Fi's dumb little window's player. The traffic/bandwidth must be crap cause I still get a slide show effect every so often.

Anyway, I'd rank the episode as ok but not great. It serves its purpose more for setting things up and moving things along as the first two do.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I have to tell you that while I did, in fact, enjoy Season 1 and parts of Season 2, Season 3 really sucked and with the exception of episode 2 of this season, this season is looking rather dismal as well.

Laura Roslin is the main reason.

The character is a first class witch and somebody needs to flush her out of an airlock. This episode just confirms it. She's a Hitler in training.

You only noticed this recently? She's always been an autocratic dictator who preaches democracy when it serves her purpose, and ditches it the moment it doesn't. She's also right a good portion of the time. That's what makes the story interesting.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Tonights Episode...

Well, frack me.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

That was pretty frakked up.

Cylons don't play. You got Cylon-on-Cylon exterminations, and the BG-Cylons are survivors, with little regard to human life, but they do care for the hybrids.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Damn. I can't believe that happened. Tori is really growing into her new identity, ain't she? I could see it coming but I still can't believe it. Damn...

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I sure didnt see that ending coming. Quite a few things changed tonight. I like the Gina 6 Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
guess she and a few other Cylons are done, for good!
or so it seems!

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

This season isn't grabbing me either. Don't know if the momentum has been lost between seasons but the disposal of Kelly didn't hit emotionally because she was so frakked up most of the episode. And the Starbuck/Anders relationship is very tough sledding to sit through since its a been there, done that before affair now.

For a moment I thought only Starbuck and Gaetana were on the Demetrius and thought hey this is possibilities for serious dramatic tension but alas the rest of the crew was revealed and its more scenes of bitching and moaning.

The real interesting stuff is happening with the Cylons.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

Do you think they are making us like the Cylons more than the fracked up humans? Hard to think of a human that isnt screwed in the head. And like you said Lou, i am begining to not care about many of the humans. Starbuck has been a lost cause for a few years. Course the same can be said about some of the Cylons as well.

So ... Are most of the "Six's" and "Sharon's" gone now?!

It's pretty obvious at this point that she enjoys being a Cylon!
