Chevy Chase titles, "Grumpy" movies - WS release this year?

In the last Warner Brothers chat, they gave the impression that the Chevy Chase films "Spies Like Us" and "Funny Farm" along with the two "Grumpy Old Men" movies would be re-released in widescreen on DVD this year but September is right around the corner and no announcement has been made yet. I was HOPING 2007 would end with them in my collection but I'm beginning to think otherwise.

I believe Warner Brothers also indicated they would release "Under the Rainbow" before 2007 was over so perhaps there is a Chevy Chase Box on the way. There are plenty of fans of the old SNL crew that look forward to getting their film catalog on DVD. The Belushi/Aykroyd film "Neighbors" is also missing on DVD and appears a lost title on Region 1.


It may be of note that all of the old dvd editions of Spies Like Us and Funny Farm have been priced at as low as $3.99 at most retailers and this often indicates they are dumping all of the old units to make way for a new improved edition.

I suspect that any annnouncement on the "Grumpy" films will be made by the end of September at the latest. Since neither one are really a hot high profile new release Warner doesn't need to spend months hyping them up as they are with even the Kubrick re-re-re-releases...

(Did I get that right with Kubrick?)

Well I sincerely hope the "Grumpy Old Men" films make it this year. I was really excited about owning them last year, prior to finding out that they were releasing the fullscreen releases. Those movies make me laugh hysterically every time. I"d love to own them on DVD.

Under the Rainbow would be totally awesome. Everybody hate Nothing But Trouble but it's an extreme guilty pelasure I enjoy enjoy every Oct. A widescreen of that madness would be great fun.

I actually broke down and bought the FS out of the bargain bin. It's better than VHS but just barely. I hate to say it but Chase may have to pass away before we get a WS of some of his flicks.

In case anyone has a few minutes and feels like making a list...

-What films did Chevy make for Warner Bros.
-Which of those films have been released on DVD in WS
-Which of those films have been released on DVD in FS only
-Which of those films have never been released on DVD at all

Off the top of my head:
-Vacation Quadrilogy (one special edition, two with commentary, one barebones) - all WS
-Caddyshack (WS SE-lite)
-Caddyshack 2 (FS only)
-Spies Like US (FS only)
-Deal of the Century (WS)
-Funny Farm (FS only)
-Nothing But Trouble (FS only)
-Under the Rainbow (not on DVD)

What am I missing?

That's the only other Warner Bros. title I can come up with starring Chase.

Well, 2008 is almost over and STILL not even a rumor of an announcement from WB about WS re-issues of "Spies Like Us," "Funny Farm," "Nothing but Trouble" or both "Grumpy Old Men" movies on DVD.

Do *I* have to become a grumpy old man myself before we ever get these????????

I rewatched Grumpy Old Men (burned onto dvd from my laserdisc) the other day, and while it was great to see it in OAR, it really looks horrible compared to dvds.

Warner promised us this on dvd, OAR, and never delivered. Bah, humbug.
