Bewitched Season 6?? - Page 5

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

That was awesome!! I love seeing the theme opening with differences but the added effects to that one were truly neat.

I always thought that TV Land should've done their own version for when it aired on there like they did for I Love Lucy. It would start out with the TV Land logo, much like the Chevy or Quaker Oats opening, and the announcer would say "TV Land Presents..." and then it would dissolve into the moon and go through the rest of the regular opening and then after the cloud smoke with "And Agnes Moorehead as Endora" it would show the cartoon Samantha, Durwood and Tabatha sitting on a couch across from a TV with the TV Land logo and the current TV Land slogan would be announced and then the logo would fill up the screen again.

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

Martin, that was really sensational! Bravo! It all just worked perfectly together! Thank you so much for sharing that!

Dave, I think your idea about TV Land is great. It's too bad that studios and networks don't have you and Martin working for them!

Thank you guys!

I must admit I was fooling around, playing with my video editing suite over the Bewitched cartoon. I'm sure you're all thinking that I've got too much time on my hands... Then I realized that season 3 and 7 had similar orchestration but with different instruments and tempo. I simply arranged for the season 3 theme (channel right) to play at a faster speed and mixed in sync with the season 7 theme (channel left). And, voilĂ !

Of course, the image quality from that You Tube clip is terrible but I had to sacrificed the looks over the stereo sound. This is what you need to do to force You Tube to accept a clip in stereo. So, the picture shows high compression... but at least, the most important thing in my clip is the stereo mix.

And, yes... TV Land should have got your creative imagination David to create a special cartoon for Bewitched airings.

It seems that more european countries are having the orange and green presentation.

Now, it's italy's turn to show the box set:

When I saw that there was french audio listed in the audio specs of TVShowsOnDVD, I thought to myself: Gee! They finally got that right! thinking that the market test prooved that the re-release had made great sales towards the french speaking consumers.

Later this evening, I emailed Sony to know if there will be a different canadian season 6 edition just like the re-released of season 1. I have almost no hope on that, though.

Martin, it looks like your wish has come true as an updated version of the back cover art has been released and it includes FRENCH audio!

BTW, thank you for posting the various covers from around the world. They are quite interesting.

Oh my stars!
I can't believe this! This is such a great news for me. I'm jubilating!
Thanks for posting this, David.

Thanks very much Ross! How lucky to live in the UK now

Speaking of that, have you heard of the new BW series that has had it's pilot filmed with Sheridan Smith as Samantha? Kat over at HarpiesBizarre.com posted a youtube video of Sheridan's interview on the Paul O'Grady Show and they discuss a little of this new BW series. She mentions the actor who plays Durwood and the actress who will play Endora.

It'll be interesting to see how successful this will be.

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

Eeeeeewwww!

I said at the time, that the one thing the awful film version got right was that if they were going to do BW again on TV these days, they'd make it a cheesy 3-camera, studio audience show. And THEY DID!

My beloved BW is joining the likes of "The Munsters Today." Pardon me, while I go retch...

I often wonder if "The Munsters Today" really is as bad as we remember - the show wouldn't have lasted for 3 years if they couldn't get the advertisers and station clearences.

It's alot better than "Small Wonder" - that's for sure!

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

Well this sucks!!! practically no one in the UK is stocking season 6 so UK viewers will have to order online. Zavi(virgin megastores) says they haven't got it in any of their scotland stores a d HMV is the same.
They can order it in for you but it probably would be faster online.
I'll do the review on thursday (as it's arriving on wed)

No, it really was that bad. Someone showed me a video tape just a year or so ago, when we were having a discussion about "The Munsters Today," "Small Wonder" and (don't attack me anyone) "Mama's Family." I now grudgingly admit that "Mama's Family" is a cut above the other 2, but only by the merest of smidgens, in my opinion.

It's funny you should mention "Small Wonder" as I almost listed that in my post as well!

Hey, look, to each his own. If people enjoy those shows, then great. But I hate to see BW go down that road...

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

First off, I know NOBODY is talkin' smack about "Mama's Family"!!! That is one of my family's favorite shows of all time!!! And secondly, I LOVED "Small Wonder" when I was little...granted I haven't seen it since then, but....

I do remember watching "The Munsters Today" when it was on, maybe one episode and it was horrible! I couldn't believe that they had the nerve to do it...and for this new UK BW to be filmed in front of a studio audience pretty much seals it's doom...

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

David, please forgive me. It was very late, I was drunk and had a 106 degree tempterature and had recently had a safe fall on my head. I didn't mean no disrespect to Mrs. Harper and her kin.

In fact, I can even say something positive about "Small Wonder." Edie McClurg played the Mrs. Kravitz knockoff, and she is always delightful.

I'm still trying to find something positive about "The Munsters Today."

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

Hate to break it to you, but they already remade this Bewitched in Japan. And they called it "Bewitched in Japan."

You are forgiven...those falling safes are a doozy!!! LOL Actually, I think why we liked "Mama's Family" so much is that Thelma Harper is almost a literal and visual translation of my grandmother, who also happens to be named Thelma!! She's also every bit as cranky as Thelma Harper so a lot of what came out of Mama's mouth was very funny to us as we'd all heard it in real life.

There is nothing positive to say about "The Munsters Today" though...that I whole heartedly concur!

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

David, speaking of Mama's Family do you think they will ever release Season 2? I love that show and want all six seasons! I agree Thelma reminds me of my grandmother too ...

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

I'll have screengrabs up very soon, just capturing them now. The picture seems a little grainy in the first few episodes but it isn't extremely noticable. Tge menu just has dick s's face over dick york.
I've never seen season 6-8 so this is really enjoyable and Dick Sargent isn't as bad as I was expecting.
Roll on the new kitchen with dodgy stairs!!

Thanks for the screen grabs, especially of the menu!! I'm so glad Sony realized that someone else was playing Durwood

I have no idea as I didn't buy the first season because it was syndicated aka CUT episodes and I'll have none of that. Not to mention no extras....

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

Oh WOW! Very impressive, indeed!
Thank you for all this, Ross.
It seems to me that Sony used better transfers than season 5, obviously!

I finally decided to wait for the region 1 box set instead of getting the region 2 Belgium edition, since french audio is available on both editions now. (Thank Lord) Can't wait for may 6, that's three days after my birthday... what a great present for me, isn't it?

Yeah David, I noticed that after I bought it! Why do they do that? I mean edit them, is it to make room for more commercials? I have them all taped and I notice where they cut certain parts out... But I hear they may not release the remaining seasons...I am just glad they didn't do this with Bewitched... I just hope Season 7 comes out before Christmas so we can get all of them by decades end!!

Sony is continuing to use existing transfers that were done in the 90's as opposed to going back to the original film elements like they did for the first few seasons. And again the extras are pathetic. Oh well.

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

well there are no bad quality epissodes. They appear to be slightly better than season 5. I think most will be happy with the quality.
On another note, i didn't realise that so many episodes would be remade in this season but atleast they do it from another angle (like the darrin split episode).
I am liking Dick S as darrin although not as much as york.

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

DavidVP, thanks for posting those links...it's too bad Sony won't clean 'em up and include them on their DVDs instead of idiotic things like the, ahem, bloopers reels on Seasons 1 and 2 and the mini-sodes on this Season 6.

Ross, if you think this season's got a lot of remakes you just wait til Season 8 hits where over 1/2 the episodes are remakes, the last episode being an almost word for word remake of Season 2's "Speak the Truth".

I used to have it written down somewhere what all the remake episodes were but I can't seem to find it anymore

Re: Bewitched Season 6??

What about season seven, how original roughly is that? I'll get the rest anyway as it'll be interesting to see the final season.
