Edit: This is just the people you didn't have user IDs for . . .?

Yes. Everyone else got a PM. There were a lot more than 6 players in this shipment; it was even bigger than the first shipment. The third and final shipment will also go out this week. You are reading way too much into posts....even if there were only six players (which there weren't) would it have mattered? I already said that the remaining will be going out by the end of the week. My Panasonic contact got them late yesterday and is processing the shipping paperwork.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Naw, I wasn't reading too much into the post . . . I wasn't reading it closely enough. I didn't notice until after clicking "Submit Reply" that the list was only of those for whom you didn't have IDs, not a comprehensive list of group two. Thus the edit.

It was after midnight when I posted. I pulled a Michael Bay.

Here's hoping your Panny contact doesn't tell you tomorrow that there will be a fourth shipment.

I was told that you were put on the list, so it should have shipped. PM me your address so I can verify it matches what is on my list, and I will do some further verification on Monday.
Adam, sorry I never responded to this - I was on vacation in Zion NP and the hotel we were staying in never got their internet working the whole time.

At any rate, I just spoke to the guy who's watching my house and the XA2 arrived Monday.

Thanks again for all of your hard work!!

Craig-
Good to know, I will take you off my problem list which is down to Sam Posten. I'm trying to track down your tracking number so you can arrange to redirect your XA2. Jodi from Toshiba is trying to get it from the wharehouse, but she is overseas at the moment, so it may be another day.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Heroes was sentout via FedEx today. Still collecting the other titles and I still hope that they will go out by the end of the week.

There were a few HD DVD players that we were able to wrangle for some HTF staff and reviewers. Those went out today via FedEx. Heroes was included in the box for these players. I'm not sure if they were overnighted or sent saver.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Howdy!

Just got my BD player. I've noticed a bit of speculation, so it's worth mentioning that it comes with the 5 standard discs that were mentioned earlier (Fantastic 4, the first two "Pirates" movies, Crash, and The Transporter). Also, it was just in it's own box, but at least this one made it through without ending up completely open!

Guess I'll try running it through the questionable switcher, just to see what happens. Probably end up with the same prob as the HD DVD player, but want to find out for sure. At the moment, I don't have enough HDMI cables to go around, anyway.

Thanks, again, Adam, for all your great efforts and another thanks to all involved in making this possible. Have quite a few more BD titles (around 15, though 2 are the second "Pirates" movie) than HD DVD titles (3) at the moment, so now I can really get busy! :-)

Due to high cost and low income, I don't plan on going HD with every title that comes out. However, there are quite a few no-brainers, such as Blade Runner and 2001 (along with numerous animated films and possibly the Harry Potter box). Weehaa!

Toodles;
Kento

Re: HD DVD player updates

Just a bit of trivia, I saw prices on the last batch of HD DVD tracking numbers today and it was anywhere from a low of $77 to a high of $119 per player to overnight them to us.

I also confirmed that the third and final batch of BD players was released today which means that they went out the door today, or will go out the door tonight. I will have tracking numbers late tonight.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Adam - any way of knowing how Heroes was shipped...priority? home delivery? I am just trying to get an idea of timeframe.
Thanks!

Re: HD DVD player updates

Adam, sorry if you misunderstood. I am away but arranged to have my Xa2 delivered to my office. I have confirmed receipt from them, and wll pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I see my BD deck is still in transit from Cali and I should be home long before it gets to my house, I may redirect that one to my office as well so that it doesnt get in the no signature cycle as well tho.

Thanks again!

No problem, glad it is covered, you are off my list! All HD DVD players are off my list! Yeah!

Jason-No clue on how it shipped, at this point I am just responding with a sigh of relief to shipping notices and few if any followup questions.

Re: HD DVD player updates

OK, I just sent out a bunch of PMs on the final Pansonic shipment. Being sleep deprived at the moment if I couldn't find a post of yours in this or another nearby thread, You didn't get a PM. No offense meant to the following people who will find their FedEx tracking numbers below. Please note that it may take a day or two for the tracking numbers to start working.

Jeff Culver 075661110001062
Matthew Krapf 790842869412
Patrick Schneider 075661110001116
Michael Wistock 075661110001079

This is the last update message for the BD players. Everyone should either have a player or a tracking number. I would like to thank Panasonic Labs, Disney and Fox for making these Blu-ray players happen. Thanks to all of you for joining us at EMA and hopefully we can to another Home Theater Forum event soon.

Alright, I should be format neutral on Friday!

Any suggestion on what Blu I should watch first?

Answering my own question, I'm pleased to report the arrival today of an A2 by FedEx overnight. I am now officially "format-neutral". (Previously I would have classified myself as "format-indifferent". )

Re: HD DVD player updates

I'm actually surprised to hear you guys complaining about the startup speed of the a2s. I HATE HATE HATE this on my A1 and was under the impression that it was much improved on the A2 and that the Xa2 should smoke that time. I'll do a head to head timing power on to trailer tonight on the two units....

Re: HD DVD player updates

I haven't compared the startup times, but the A2 feels like it's at least half that of the A1. It's still longer than a DVD player, but much more tolerable. I can only pour half a glass of OJ during the wait instead of getting a full glass of OJ and a sandwich.

Re: HD DVD player updates

I suspect that load time complaints are coming more from those for whom the A2 is their first HD DVD player, as opposed to those of us who've had a first gen machine for, say, a year or more.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Agreed. The A2 load times are probably average for standalone players. The Panasonic is a bit faster I think, and players like the new Sharp are a bit slower, and some like the Sony S300 seem a lot slower.

Re: HD DVD player updates

I'm BD group 3 and my FedEx tracking number is now live and showing up at the site. "Package data transmitted to FedEx" time of 1:32 pm on October 3. According to the site, it's via Ground (although this may be the way Home shows up at the site); "Signature Required." Point of origin is Universal City, CA. 13 pounds. My "Estimated delivery" date is today.

The orchestra and chorus are nervously waiting, Handel score at the ready . . .

Re: HD DVD player updates

My Xa2 is now officially in my possession.

Re: HD DVD player updates

How do you get more detail on the Fedex shipments?

My number (Thanks Adam) shows up, but only reflects "Package Data xmitted" and Expected delivery Oct 4, by 3pm.

No point of Origin, and the BD is definitely not here.
What an I missing, team?

Re: HD DVD player updates

I'm going to guess that they all shipped out of the same location.
Mine shows that it shipped out of Universal City CA.

No dis to the various parties involved intended, but I feel like I could have driven over to Universal City and shipped these players myself faster with ya'll PayPal-ing far less than ~$100 for shipping. And it wouldn't have taken an act of Congress to get tracking numbers.

Re: HD DVD player updates

Anyone? For two days, and now well past the "expected delivery", I'm wondering how to see more than the status of "Package data transmitted".

Is there something I can do? Or am I just sitting tight?

Re: HD DVD player updates

Gees yours now has been updated to "sold on Craig's list".

You could always call and talk to a live CSR.

Mine has been update and is now in the Bay Area so it's a given it'll be here Friday.
