HD DVD player updates

The HD DVD players will start shipping out the middle of next week.

I am still waiting to hear what the three free titles are.

I am not sure if Heroes and the three discs will ship in the box or separately.

I am still waiting for instructions on where to send the checks and who to make them payable to for the upgraded players. I anticipate that these should be ready to go by late next week as well, assuming your payment has been received, assuming you know where to send it.

Hopefully I will be able to have answers to these questions late this week.

Any idea if they'll be providing tracking numbers or requiring signatures for delivery?

A wholehearted "Thanks" from me too. Ron told me you're handling the paperwork and communication on the players. Also that it could have been an easier job than it has been. So...Thanks for haging in there for all of our sakes.

OK. The A2s will start shipping this week. You will get Heroes will it. I now have the upgrade info and will be emailing the details to the people who are on the upgrade list tonight when I get home. The XA2s will start shipping as soon as your checks are received, and will ship with Heroes as well. Thanks for your patience.

I need another day or two on the three additional titles before I can announce what they are. They will be titles that are currently pre-releases, so we don't have to worry about someone already having one and dealing with duplicates. RAF, you can start shopping again .

Very cool news about the titles being pre-releases. I wonder if they are all Universal or is Warner chipping in one?
Hmmmm, I'm starting to speculate....kind of like seeing a gift under the Christmas tree that is shaped like a DVD case and it is addressed to you. You start to wonder what title it is...

No promises, but at this point look for somthing from Universal, Paramount and maybe WB. I should have a list by the end of the week.

Adam:

I know the generic response is "as soon as possible," but if one has not been mentioned, would you please inquire about a 'drop dead'/cutoff date by which Ms. Burau needs to have received checks from everyone who is getting the XA2. I'd like to have a better sense of just how long we have to cut our checks and get them to Minnesota. Thanks.

I didn't think to ask as I figured everyone would be in a hurry to get the player. PM me what you are thinking and I will try to make that happen. It's probably easier to do that then try to track down a cut off date...

Adam, just wanted to add my note of thanks for coordinating all of this. Much appreciated. Cant wait to 'gift' my Xbox 360 HD drive to my brother in law. ;-)

Perhaps goes without saying but, if you receive your player, please pipe up! Curious how long the shipping process will take and, per an earlier inquiry, if there are tracking numbers.

Nothing here yet but I was thinking we would get official word (via email) that they've been shipped. I'm anxiously awaiting to see what titles we get so I know what to avoid pre-ordering.

That's because I haven't been home to cash it!

All kidding aside, I should have an update on shipping by Friday AM (for XA2 and A2), as well as a list of the three free additional titles we are getting.

I'm actually very patient! However, if you can, please find out if they are going to require a signature receipt. If so, and they aren't going to ship for another week or so, it could be an issue for me because I will be in Canada 9/17-9/27. I have someone coming by to pick up my mail and packages, but she won't be able to sign for anything unless she just happens to be here at the same time that the delivery arrives. If there's no signature receipt, no problem.

I see that my check has not cleared yet, either. Do you think they would ship on receipt of the check? Or...not until they clear? I'm starting to get crazy-anxious to watch Recorded HD movies!!! lol I Hope all is well for everyone who was there at EMA, and that we'll get a chance to meet again soon. Locally, or Nationally. It's always great to travel and hang out with HTF'ers.

I found out that there was a delay and players didn't/won't start shipping until this week. I will have more concrete info later today (fingers crossed).

As for the three free titles, as I understand it three catalog titles were put into the boxes that are going out to the EMA attendees. I don't know if these were included in out boxes or not (getting conflicting info). Regardless, after you get your player expect to get Knocked Up, Transformers and one other TBD title. Please note that these titles won't apply to the general EMA attendees, only HTF attendees.


Switching gears, the first batch of BD players will ship next Monday or Tuesday, but they aren't all in yet so it will be a several week process. There were a few additional people that came forward saying that their certificates were missing, so I have ordered a few extra replacements. Rather than hold up everyone's, I sent in what I had (including the 20 certificates I filled out) this week.
