I'm starting to agree.

No Stooges Volume 2 at either Target or Borders.

FYE said they had them, but after looking for 10 minutes, they couldn't find them and said they'd arrive later in the week. That store gets things late every damn week.

However, FYE is inexplicably promoting the other 20 + Stooge DVDs featuring the hodge-podge selections. Tons of those we hate for $9.99.

If this release is #8 at Amazon why in the hell can't Sony get this promoted correctly, and why don't they stop promoting the old series we HATE.

Heads up for Canadian fans, I found volume two today on display in the "new releases" section of Sunrise Records.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: Years 1-2

We watched two more classic, pristine shorts tonight: Hoi Polloi and Horses' Collars. The punch scene (with arms in the wrong jackets) is a classic for me. I also love how Curly stops just long enough to tell Moe and Larry they've got the wrong cheese.

Some of the other things I love are the way they will use an extensive vocabulary in one sentence, and how they will next misuse or not understand a much simpler term in the next. Such deliberate genius IMO, and such a treasure to be able to watch these episodes clearer than ever before.

Another classic from one of the episodes above is the dance sequence in which Curly 'springs back' into action after he is knocked down. Our children wanted to try that one at home. I told them that only The Three Stooges could do that.

Look at Wal-Mart (I've seen copies there)...or at an FYE (TransWorld) store if you have any in your area.

That's where I got my copy when they had it down to $16.99.

There's no Sunrise Records where I live, but I did check Dominion and Wal-Mart,and they never had a copy.I also checked HMV's website and they don't have any copies in,either.

I just picked mine up at Wal-Mart this morning. There were 3 copies left.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: Years 1-2

There were none at two of our local Walmart stores (one of these is a Super Walmart). But my copy is on its way from Amazon.com. If I happen to need an exchange for any reason, it will be much easier (and less damaging to the cases) if I obtain another via Amazon.com than Walmart. I've begun to tell employees at Walmart (during exchanges) *not* to slice into the replacement copy when giving me the new copy. As for Best Buy, they IMO have the worst exchange policy I've ever seen, which is why I have not shopped there for about seven years, and never will again.

Lots of copies left at our Wal-mart. Btw, it was listed as 19.99 but rang up as 14.99!

Thanks Mike. But the FYE here, which is a superstore taking up a whole block in downtown Nashville in a former Tower Records location, ordered a whopping 3 copies and promptly sold out.

FYE has a bad habit of not ordering enough of these kind of titles.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: Years 1-2

So how are people electing to watch these episodes? I like seeing them in chronological order, although it's often tempting to watch some of my favorites on occasion, which often puts them out of order chronologically. (Doing so sort of reminds me of the production vs. airdate ordering in other t.v. series such as Trek.) For The Three Stooges, I first watch all of the episodes (like nineteen for vol. 1 and twenty-four for vol. 2); after I've seen them all at least once, I tend to skip around.

Re: SPHE Press Release: The Three Stooges Collection, Volume One: Years 1-2

I like watching them in order, but only one at a time - like before I watch a feature film. I've seen them all many times, and although I love the Stooges I'm finding that as I grow older I can't tolerate too much of them at one time. So a single short along with a cartoon before a feature is perfect.

Joe,

One at a time--I actually hadn't even considered that. I watch about two or three at a sitting. But I like your idea (before a feature film). That makes a lot of sense.

I will be watching some from vol. 2 tomorrow. Incidentally, I haven't seen all 190 of them, so those that I have yet to see will be a special treat.

Watching them one at a time and before a feature makes good sense - it also makes them last longer! I do the same with TV shows that I really like.
