Hi everyone,

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the best settings on my new TV? I keep trying to fine tune it on my own, but i just can't seem to get it right. If anyone has this TV or knows of a site that has good settings, please let me know as im new to HD tvs. THanks!

The Display section is more appropriate for this type of question. You should also buy a calibration DVD like Avia or Video Essentials. They provide the test patterns and instructions on how to set the control. Since every viewing environment and TV are different, copying settings from someone else will not yield the same results.

Louis: to get at least a good basic set of image settings, if you have a THX mastered dvd (any of the Star Wars dvds for example) you can use what's called the "THX Optimizer" that is included on these discs:

THX Optimizer

It is easy to use, does not require one to know any special A/V language and only takes about 10 minutes to use. It can make a significant difference in image quality, though at first you may think the picture is too dark but then you realize skin looks like skin, grass looks natural & not radioactive and blacks (depending on your TV) actually look black.

It also includes some fundamental audio test procedures too.

FYI: on my Star Wars disc, IIRC the optimizer is in the "Options" submenu and the icon for it usually very dimly lit for some reason (it changes randomly though!) so you'll have to look for it.
