China moves to make re-incarnation illegal

I'm not saying I have plans to re-incarnate, but if I -do-, then apparently I need to fill out some sort of form.

Well, I'm going on record then. I plan on coming back as a dog. My dog has such a nice life.

So do the current living Buddhas get some kind of grandfather clause? Because that would be hardly fair for those who've already put so much effort into reincarnating...

Traditionally, the Dali Lama identifies the new incarnation of the Panchen Lama, and the Panchen Lama identifies the new incarnation of the Dalai Lama. Since the Dalai Lama is currently agitating for Tibetan independence/autonomy, the Chinese are trying to make sure that new Dalai Lama is a Chinese puppet. Simple, really.
