What's your best looking HD or Blu-ray disc?

In terms of video quality what is the one film you own that makes you say...wow?

Of the 4 HD films I own, Trading Places really shines. I compared it to the standard dvd,(which looks quite nice) and it's just amazing how much better it looks. The video quality is phenomenal. A movie from the early 80's has no buisness looking that good, but I'm glad it does.

Superman the movie was a bit of a letdown for me. Yes, it is better than the standard dvd, but it's not night and day like the other titles I have seen. Much like Full Metal Jacket(another release from WB) I feel it was rushed.

Corpse Bride. It almost looks 3D at times it is so clean. Another favorite would be Kingdom of Heaven.

Take a look at www.highdefdigest.com and you can get a good feel for the video quality of the vast majority of discs.

I think CHICAGO is my favorite Blu-ray. THE SEARCHERS is right up there, too.

I may be publicly stoned for this, but the one that really shines for me is The Chronicles Of Riddick - I have watched it three times on HD and I am always really impressed with the clarity of the image and the wonderfully crisp colors. Movies like Batman Begins and Happy Feet look great too, but something about the Pitch Black sequel stands out for me...

I would have to say "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." Stunning. Absolutely stunning. After watching it in BD, I popped in the standard DVD, which was just even more abysmal that it was before.

"The Untouchables" is also very impressive, considering it's now 20 years old. The colors really pop in what is not normally considered a colorful movie.

I don't get the whole POTC thing...it looked OK but its not the be all end all. I've watched it on a PS3 with a 1080p DLP, it looked decent.

Best HD-DVD, Batman Begins, best BD Crank by far. Nothing I've seen comes close to the PQ and clarity. You hit 40mbps in the movie, its fantastic.

Seabisquit for HD DVD. I don't think there's an equal to it on either format...simply breathtaking and gorgeous. Also happens to be an Academy Award Best Picture nominee & wonderful film. Kingdom of Heaven-Directors Cut is the best BD I've seen. Even over POTC. KoH looks amazingly natural and detailed and filmlike.

Crank looks really nice on BD, as does Casino Royale. I really love Robin Hood on HD, though...

I would have to say that Grand Prix is the one film that I bring out to show people who have never seen HD before. Just a stunning presentation.

"King Kong" or "Serenity" for HD DVD."Hellboy" for Bluray, hands down the best I've seen. Also, to show off upconvert capability of HD DVD I show friends "Star Wars" any of Them from II to VI. Episode I doesn't impress Me as far as PQ. It needs a remaster.....Very Soon,Hopefully.

Definitely Grand Prix. The most stunning HD picture I've seen to date.

Close second Casablanca, Batman Begins, Robin Hood, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Black Snake Moan.

Agree, Tim. I also think that BATMAN BEGINS and ROBIN HOOD are stellar. On BD, CASINO ROYALE and THE PRESTIGE(I haven't seen the POTC flicks on BD yet).
