No scene for Apu or the Qwiki-Mart, either, after all that promotion by 7-11.

Decided to catch a matinee today. A few pretty funny parts, and far better than the show has been in years. It would have been more enjoyable without the kid behind me who thought every single joke was worthy of a loud, screechy, knee-slapping laugh.

And what was with all the little kids at this film? Did the parents miss the PG-13 rating? Some woman in front of me brought two little girls, aged about 2 and 4.

Actually, the joke I found funniest was the one that no one else in the theater seemed to laugh at:

Those angry eyes, those huge teeth...it's like Christmas at the Kennedys.

Well, there is that brief moment at the beginning where we see him changing the expiration date on a milk carton.

I consider that a hallucination or fantasy sequence event that doesn't count, just like the part in Treehouse Of Horror V when she says, "This is indeed a disturbing universe" in the voice of James Earl Jones.

I dunno if that should be considered fantasy or not - I can't remember it that well. Obviously in the early Thanksgiving episode when Bart hallucinates "It's your fault I can't talk", that doesn't count.

Her head turns backwards (a la The Exorcist) so that pretty much places it into hallucination. Or maybe you could say that she was possessed by the good spirit of the Flanders family. Either way, Maggie wasn't in control of her vocal chords.

Did the show present it as fantasy, though? Obviously the head-turning isn't realistic, but the show features plenty of things presented as "reality" that would kill people...

Sure but the scene of her speaking is done as a joke to show that she's possessed by the Flanders' good spirit and not as scene of her speaking for the first time.

Todd Flanders: "I wish Homer was my father."
Ned Flanders: "...and I wish you didn't have the devil's curly hair."

lol - very uncharacteristic for Ned to say, especially to one of his sons. I chucked again when Ned snapped at his boys when they asked if Buddah would be there, too (in heaven)
