Woody Woodpecker Mislabeled Discs (UNIVERSAL)

Apparently many people who have purchased this set, are reporting having received mislabeled and mismatched discs. There are at least three others on the Golden Age Cartoon forums, and I myself experienced this problem when I purchased the set yesterday afternoon. Disc One is actually Disc Two, and vice versa. Perhaps not an immense problem, certainly not on the scale of other quality control and production issues we've seen in the past. But frustrating nonetheless for those with very large collections, it's difficult enough as it is to keep everything organized and accounted for.

Has anyone else experienced this problem where the discs in the box set were mismatched and labeled? If so, should Universal be contacted about this directly? I wanted to bring my set back to the store for exchange, but I'm worried that I'll just receive the same thing with another box...

The problem sets seem to be identifiable by a production batch code on the side of the box: 00117C

This has now been confirmed by more than a handful of consumers. It might be a problem exclusive to Canadian sales however. Reports from Winnipeg, Ontario, Quebec and BC. No definitive word yet.

Marco
the same number in the defective disc thread for universal should resolve the problem if you replace it and have the same issue

Re: Woody Woodpecker Mislabeled Discs (UNIVERSAL)

Thanks Dana, all the sets I've come across in stores so far have had the same production no. on the box so I'm not going to bother with an exchange because I've already spoken with three people who've attempted this and received the same with their new sets.

Has Universal addressed this issue?

It seems like the only information in the thread you mentioned from the studio was in regards to the BTTF box sets. Are you suggesting that I just use the contact information from that thread to get in touch with Universal and speak with a cust. service rep about the situation?

Thanks.

Re: Woody Woodpecker Mislabeled Discs (UNIVERSAL)

It appears that my set is correct as I've watched cartoons from both discs 1 & 3. I will check disc 2 tonight, to confirm that I don't have duplicate discs by chance.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Add Saskatchewan to the list. My set (from Amazon.ca) arrived today. The discs are (according to the silkscreen labels) "Made In Canada". I don't know where they were pressed or how many were made, but will Universal replace these discs if the pressing quantity for Canada is fairly small to begin with?

I think the Library number is universal (no pun intended). The packaging case doesn't feature information of country of manufacture, but does does mention "Distributed by Universal Studios Canada". Both US and Canadian Universal websites are identified on the packaging. It is, however, found on the discs themselves, as I mentioned above.

BTW, "THIS COLLECTION IS INTENDED FOR ADULT COLLECTORS AND MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN". Thanks, Universal, for "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"! (Come on WB, you can do it...!)
