Thread Starter
I recently had a very unnerving experience with a "Red Circle of Death" 360 as explained in this thread. Basically, I lost a very high (like in 20th in the world on the Xbox Live Leaderboard) score for Bejeweled 2 due to HW failure and part of this was because the Xbox didn't let me backup my Bejeweled 2 scores from my Hard Drive to something else like a memory unit, which was a bit surprising. Yes, if you use an MS Memory unit (I have a 512Meg one) you can back up a lot of stuff (within the unit's space limit) but some game files give you a

error message. What's up with that?!? That's the sole reason I purchased the Memory Module!

In any event, the worst happened and my failing Xbox360 ate my Bejeweled scores. I checked, and what's now on the HDD is a score of "zero" and is apparently lost forever. The Leaderboard still shows my HTRAF (nametag) score of over 90,000,000 for Bejeweled 2 Endless mode but the way that Xbox Live works is to only advance your score once your local score on your HDD exceeds what's on the Leaderboard. That's over 500 hours of real time game play!

I've since learned of a couple of non-MS options that might serve my needs. I've already ordered an Xport and have also heard good things about the Xsata. The Xport is a bit better for my needs since you don't need to have the 360 close to your PC. (See the links to learn more). Of course all of this is a bit like closing the barn door after the horses have left, but at least I should be o.k. for future disasters.

My question to the group is: What backup solutions (if any) have you discovered for your 360? And why doesn't MS seem to let you back up some perfectly legitimate files (like my Bejeweled 2 data file) within the 360 menu system? It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm also starting a separate thread on the whole Xbox Live Leaderboard situtation here if you're interested.
