Re: Coldplay
I love Coldplay. I think they get more masterful with each album and their melodies, lyrics and stage presence I just love!I heard somewhere that they were not keen on their 1st album anymore, but I think the soft jazz touched overtones (and the superb yellow) will long stand as a great first release.
This thread has inspired me to have them in rotation all day today at work.
BTW - if you haven't caught them live, do so, they rip up that stage and are fun, funny and incredibly passionate.
Thanks,
Neil

Re: Coldplay
i read that reviews for X&Y aren't as good as first 2, i think X&Y is the their best album. i literally JUST got into them 2 weeks ago. now i have all of their albums+live. the storyteller thing is just amazing. tells of how they made each of the popular songs and inspirations, etc. they're all just extremely talented =).in the storytellers, they say that it takes ages for all of them to work on an album. gosh, when was the last time you heard a band working on ALBUMS instead of song by song? i really just like how they approach the whole music thing. pretty humble. of course, the music soounds awesome. i dunno the lyrics half the time, it's the melodies that pull me in everytime.
i like them over radiohead, despite the comparisons.

Re: Coldplay
I'm not familiar with a lot of their music, but they seem to me to come from the same general place as Radiohead and Porcupine Tree but deciding to go for a less progressive and more poppy sound. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- the other angle's for me though.

I love their music too. They're not being very humble about their next album though, claiming it will be "the greatest piece of music ever made", and will contain the "best song ever". Source: http://www.breakingnews.ie/2006/02/14/story244632.html
Sounds like they're putting a lot of pressure on themselves to deliver. I hope they do.

I like Coldplay a lot. the song Talk off of X&Y makes me think of my dad and aunt, because they were very close before he died.

Radiohead and Coldplay: apples and oranges, I think. I like them both but for very different reasons.- JediFonger

Re: Coldplay
i've been playing all 3 albums in heavy rotation for many weeks now straight and i'm still not tired. my fav. types of music is when i fall in love with the melody of the music. in fact, with most of my fav. bands, i still dunno what the lyrics are!!! lol.i like how all 3 albums are an emotional journey somewhere's. again, not having the lyrics, i dunno where. but just the feelings it evokes, THAT'S MUSIC!
i haven't achieved it much with many bands over the years.
