Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Yuck.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

I thought it was maybe just my browser. I don't like it either. Looks like it's some kinda gaff. Should only see that skinny column in the top section, then full width down where the actual threads are listed. Instead, we have a blank skinny column all the way down the page.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

These side ads are really bugging me. They make navigating the Forum that much less pleasant. At least they don't show up in threads!

I agree wholeheartedly with me fellow droog Christopher. These ads are an eyesore and are frankly unwelcome. That's the one major thing I don't like about DVDTalk. Ads galore. I'm using the forum default.
Keep the ads in a banner at the very top of a major area and not in actual threads, please.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

It completely messes up how the HTF index is displayed in Firefox.

I absolutely agree. Do something about it!

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Yes, please look at the index in Firefox if you could. It looks like normal in IE, but it's broken in Firefox right now. Thanks.

Also, I could probably get used to the new style if I have to, but please consider adding the forum jump to the top of the page if you could. I'm glad it's still there in default mode.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Yep, the screwing with the index in Firefox makes this really difficult to manage. Oddly, you get the same mess with Safari, surprised with the new found Mac love HTF would seemingly go IE only...

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Here too. It doesn't seem to work properly in any Mac browser. Safari is completely unusable. Netscape and Opera are barely tolerable.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Hmmm this is what I'm getting -

Different... stylish... I guess I'll get used to it eventually.

I'm using Mozarella Firefox, threads open up okay.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

That's what I get in netscape, in Firefox on Mac I get this...

I was wrong about Safari, which gives what it sounds like others are getting with IE.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Guys,

I called Parker about this problem last night as he was
working on the software.

Even though I saw the display problems on my end, Parker
was not able to duplicate those problems on his end, and was
convinced that there wasn't a problem.

We decided to see if anyone else had the same display issues
which is now obviously apparent.

Please give us a day to fix the problem.

Yeah its just horrible, I have really limited my use of these forums because its just crappy at this point. Once again ad's/money will ruin a good thing. Hopefully when I check back in a few days things will be looking better.

Well, it takes ads/money to run this place and keep it a free resource for all of us. Sure, it'd be great if a huge website like this could be run for free with zero expenses, but that's just not reality. I am sure Parker can get the side-ads dsiplay issue sorted out. In the meantime, life goes on and it certainly doesn't hinder my ability to use the site.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Yeah. When you consider that we use this site for free and Parker and Ron run it out of their own pocket, let's please be patient when a rare problem arises. Ron already said they're on it, so let them take whatever time they need to fix it.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

All should be resolved now.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Thanks, working fine for me in IE, and sorry some people were so quick to jump down your throats about it. I, like some of the others, just report the problems and wait for you guys to hash them out. You guys are great!

As for Firefox, I rarely use it so it has no cached HTF pages or cookies. I have 1.0.6 and just opened the Studio & Manuf Feedback page there, it was fine!!!!

Ya. I'm afraid it's still wrong in Firefox.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Okay in Opera 9, and thanks.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Opera is working for me now. I'm pretty sure it wasn't before. Firefox is still showing up the way it was in the image I posted, plus the brand new Navigator 9 is the same as Firefox. This is on Mac, of course.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Hmmm......I took out the changes I made so everything should be back to normal. Firefox, Opera and Netscape look fine on my end.

No go on this end. Firefox is still a mess.

Same here on PC Firefox.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

My guess is that you should focus on the code that controls the expanding and contracting of forum sections. The buttons to do that are still there, but they don't do anything. And, there's something to that that is making us see every forum choice.

Re: Skinnied up for ads on right ?

Just an FYI to add to that, the table(s) at the top of the main page are fine. It is below the 10th Anniversary section things get weird for me. Also, the sections and thread pages are fine. It's just the main page.
