"The 'whole bloody affair' cut has been in the can for awhile. It played at Cannes last year and in Austin back in Oct.. Quentin had held off working on the special edition to take a breather from the whole Kill Bill experience. They could have released a movie-only DVD of the extended cut, then this SE would be a triple-dip."

Yea QT had made a statement about a year or so ago, that he was Kill BIll'ed out and needed a breather and to expect this in about a years time.Even thought the cut was done, I would guess they needed his involvement for extras.


About the HD talk - the studios REALLY need to start getting the SD and HD versions out on the same dates.

My SD purchases haven't completely stopped but they are at a crawl. I used to average at least a dozen titles or more a month, so far this year it's under 1 per month. There's just not a whole lot being released on SD that I feel the need to own anymore.

There's always titles getting released in SD I'm interested in seeing but they usually get religated to Netflix.

Righty-O! I'd feel like a complete idiot buying this on SD knowing that when the HD version comes out (after a few months) I'd end up buying it yet again. Especially at a $50 MSRP - for SD?!! Fuck that shit. I've double/triple dipped enough over the years on SD so for me to buy it again it'll have to offer the significant PQ upgrade that only the HD formats can offer.

Last I heard, it was getting released on Christmas Day. I saw some photos of the packaging from Comic-Con. Don't recall where though.

Amazon's listing seems to have a different release date every few weeks...the last being Early Nov.

Now the set is listed as "currently unavailable"...hmmmm?

Checking around, the only other e-tailer that has is listed for pre-order is dvdpacific.com. It's listed as Jan. 1, 2008.

I just want some specs...both Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction had solid suppliments, I can only imagine what coolness could be on the 2 other discs, assuming the first 2 are the film itself.

Our order at VPD Inc. was canceled because the title was put on moratorium without notice -- their way of saying "never mind, this isn't happening". No explanation or anything. Oh, well.

The longer they procrastinate on this release, the less interested I am in getting it. They should have released it three years ago when the longer cut was still fresh and people still gave a damn. I have a feeling the same will happen with the eventual release of the Grindhouse theatrical special edition.
