Re: What is the problem w/ Warner and Blu-Ray??

Will those subsidies go on indefinitely, or do they have time limits? It's been rumored that they're expiring.

Re: What is the problem w/ Warner and Blu-Ray??

since we're all guessing/hypothesizing, my supposition is that Sony will continue to extend the olive branch of offsetting BD50 replication costs as long as they remain demonstrably higher than HD DVD production costs (and both formats are competing in the market place).

BD50 replication costs have been falling and will continue to do so, so the problem with probably become moot before too long anyway.

I would like to see the actual costs sans any hiding/funny bookkeeping. I don't think they'll be revealed, though.

What is your source on the replication costs falling?

Two relevant posts on the subject, from an "insider"-

Warner has been pretty reluctant to add e.g. plain DTS-tracks on their SD DVD-releases and many classics are "only" 1.0 mono (not that it´s a bad thing or anything, since these 5.1-remixes are always debatable).

Perhaps they don´t simply "believe" to the increased bitrate on audio etc?
