Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

Thread Starter
I have lots of "favorite" shows, but after really thinking about it, most of them I can only take 7-8 episodes before I want to take a break or switch to something else. (Wanted Dead or Alive, Stargate, Voyage to the Bottom, Munsters come to mind)

But there are a few series that I can easily watch for hours and hours:

The Rifleman
Leave it to Beaver
Dick Van Dyke
Early Andy Griffith

How about you? Of the series you enjoy often, which could you really sit through your own 12-hour (or more) marathon of?

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

This is very timely. I just spent all day yesterday and a lot of today watching the first season of Babylon 5. I watched all 22 episodes in one weekend.

What can I say... I have no life. Well actually, I blame the summer time temps. It was way to hot to do anything outside.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

There aren't very many series that I'm a fan enough of to enjoy making a 12 hour marathon of. I would look forward to many for a six hour marathon but 12 hours is a major commitment
The only two that come to mind are The Sopranos and Star Trek: TNG.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

In terms of T.V shows i think the last 12 hour clued session was Northern Exposure - Third Season. Starting from the first episode - THE BUMPY ROAD TO LOVE till episode 14 - BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE. Then we needed a break at that point. Years ago i watched all the episodes of "Degrassi Jnr High" and few starting episodes of "Degrassi High" - (I know i know, it was a nostalgia thing ). Oh and old VHS copies of the Aussie T.V show "Chances" that use to be on a decade or so ago that had a few seasonal runs.

I have done a few mini series 12 hour session though from "Centennial" to
Season 1,2,3,4 of OZ ( still need to get 5 and 6 ).

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

I don't often watch more than 4 eps or so of any particular show in marathon form. Closest might be watching an entire 10-ep season of Curb Your Enthusiasm in one sitting.

Still, if I really wanted to, I could enjoy watching 12 straight hours of:

Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea
Star Trek
Freaks And Geeks

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

The Prisoner.....about 17 hours total.

Victory At Sea.....about 13 hours total.

I've actually done this.....more than once.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

My personal "best" (if one can call sitting on ones ass an entire day that) was a few years ago when a friend and I watched something in the neighborhood of 16 SG-1 episodes in a row, pausing only for bathroom breaks and to accept our pizza delivery.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

I'll sit down with a lot of the sitcoms and just go from one to the other. I recently watched Family Affair S3 and Silver Spoons in one go.

I'll do the same with Friday Night Lights when it comes out - can't wait for that one.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

I've actually had big marathons of:

Buffy
Twin Peaks
Dynasty
Lost

...to name a few. Obviously, serials are easier to take in huge sittings.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

Battlestar Galactica.

Followed by Picket Fences, The 4400, the West Wing and MI-5 in roughly that order (thought to do the last one of those you'd have to do more than one season... darn those short UK seasons).

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

Based on what's out on DVD already:

Dark Shadows
Gunsmoke
Get Smart
The Judy Garland Show
Are You Being Served?
The Forsyte Saga
(the original, skip the remake!)
Perry Mason
Charlie's Angels
(the Kate Jackson years)
Doctor Who (with Jon Pertwee/Tom Baker/David Tennant)
The Avengers (Emma Peel episodes, of course!)
Bewitched
Gilligan's Island
I Love Lucy
The Brady Bunch
(seasons 3-5 only, the first two are too saccharine for my taste!)
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
The Lost World
The Benny Hill Show
SCTV

I'd better stop here. On the other hand, based on what has yet to be on DVD, I'd choose for viewing marathons:

Peyton Place
He & She
Thriller
Cold Case
Batman
History Detectives

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

Hmmm...

I watched 9 hours of season two of "Lost" in one sitting (only stopped because I had to meet up with someone), so 12 hours would be EASY for me if I were watching:

Lost
Scrubs
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Gilmore Girls
Seinfeld
The Simpsons
The Bob Newhart Show
The Shield (The first two seasons)
Cheers
MASH
Family Guy
Popular
Freaks & Geeks
Veronica Mars
Smallville

all spring to mind. I've been meaning to rewatch all this stuff as soon as I have time, and marathon viewing may be just the ticket...

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

The first time I watch a set, I rarely watch more than a single episode (and occasionally two) a night, but with older sets, marathons are fine, although not really my ideal choice. I watched almost all of the first season of Amazing Race with some relatives in one sitting last week which was fun but I honestly don't have the attention span to do one thing for more than a few hours.

I agree with Star Trek: TNG, and throw in most of the the Star Treks with this one, except DS9. I could also stand 12 hours of ``Family Guy,'' and perhaps even ``The A-Team.'' Fortunately, with TV on DVD, I can vary the shows I watch every day during my ``weekends,'' such as my current viewing sked of ``CHiPs,'' ``Eureka,'' ``Lois & Clark'' S2 and ``Star Trek: TNG'' S5.

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

None, the most I can watch is maybe 5 or 6 episodes a day before I start getting tired of watching them. I can watch at least 6 of Lost and 24 because of how addicting the shows are but most shows I just watch 3 or 4 a day, though I spread them out over the course of the day

Re: Which series could you watch a 12 hour marathon of?

I have done it for lots of shows. I am pretty sure I did the "right" thing and watched 24 for 24 hours straight once... Other marathons that come to mind are Buffy, Sopranos, Seinfeld. Does all of Arrested Development come to 12 hours?...if so, that too quite recently.
