Kudos for putting out SNF.

Now all Paramount needs to do is Star Trek II and First Contact
I'm sure they'll start with V.

Actually, I'd be cool with that if it was a new William Shatner Director's Cut. Move over, Dick Donner, the Shat is back!

If I recall correctly, the reason the Coke signs were blurred was because the film's original release had a promotional campaign deal with Pepsi.

They could always put Pepsi signs of the era in its place if Coca-Cola won't give in. Considering that someone took the effort to blur the band playing music that was replaced on an episode of The Fall Guy, it shouldn't be so hard to slap on a 1950s Pepsi sign with CGI.

I still see SNF on inserts inside of Paramount HD-DVD movies, did a search, and the only thread I can find. Wonder if this'll never see the light of day on HD-DVD.

thread from the dead but SNF is on HDNet this month and compressed cable notwithstanding, looks pretty good. About on par with "The Warriors", same studio, time period and also alot of night shots. There ARE many soft, diffused stylistic shots in it but they still look very good. Hopefully the eventual BD will be coming soon.

The Blu-ray release of Saturday Night Fever is planned for 2009.

I wish they'd also include the PG-rated reissue, which came out in theaters for the kids who weren't old enough to see the R-rated version. Both were released separately on VHS, the DVD only has the R version but it would've been nice if they'd included both since it's one of the few times a movie has been reissued theatrically this way. It plays mostly like a cleaned-up TV version, with some different shots used in some scenes where dialogue was changed (You can't say to hell with the future, Tony! The future says to hell with you!)

Looking forward to adding this to my HD collection!

I'm glad to hear this is coming out on blu-ray, too. It was Gene Siskel's favorite film, and it's one of mine as well. The White Castle scene brings back a lot of memories.

I hope they include the deleted scenes that were left off the last DVD release. If not, I'll guess I'll still be hanging on to my old DVD when I get the blu-ray.

You know what? I'm with you on this. I have wanted that "PG" version
included since the original DVD release.

I just have a feeling that it "ain't" happening.

Let me see if I can get a letter out to one of the contacts over
there and put a suggestion out to have it done nonetheless.
