Hey guys whats goin on?

I am trying to figure out how to connect my Computer to my Projector. From what I have read I need a Male to Male VGA cord....my only concern is how do I get the audio? http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...ormat=2&style=

This cord comes with an audio cord, but wouldnt this just play through my projector speaker??? 1Watt?? How would I get this to play through my dvd player and surround sound?

Thanks

Steve,

I moved your question to the Computer and HTPC area (residing there now!) , where you most certainly will find an answer.

Run the audio cable to your receiver . . . to benefit from true surround sound you will want to run either optical or digital coax to your receiver instead of stereo RCA cables.

Does your Vid card, Projector Have a DVI or HDMI connection?? It would be best to run a Digital Connection!! What make and model of your Vid Card and Projector?

I do not know what vid card I have... The projector is an Optoma(SP?) HD50

I am just playing bootlegs on it so the quality of cable really isnt an issue.

To answer the question in your PM -- you probably will not be able to use the cord that comes with that cable linked above for the audio. One option may be to strip it off the video cable (just pull them apart), but you'll still need to purchase an adapter from Radio Shack to make it plug into your receiver.

If your computer's soundcard has an optical or coax digital output you'd be better off just buying another cable to run from that output to your receiver.

Re: Projector >>>Computer Connection... HELP PLEASE!!

Your computer needs a surround sound card.
I have a Chaintech av710 with a optical out. I just plug the optical cable into my receiver from the soundcard.
If you just want stereo you need a 3.5mm stereo jack to two RCA connectors.
The 3.5 jack plugs into the Aux out of the computer and the RCA goes into the receiver.
Any audio store will carry that cable.
